My therapist seemed like a good fit until she canceled on me every session we had.
I would talk to her over chat every now and then but received no real one on one time with her.
My opinion is that it's disgraceful this service condones that type of behavior for people that pay money to have therapy and when it is not received refuse to refund your money or take any sort of responsibility.
It's highly unprofessional and unethical.
I dont recommend this service as it seems wishy washy and not an actual replacement for a positive mental health service.
They will cheat you if they can.
Their reason for why I cannot receive a refund being i should have unsubscribed or changed my counselor. You realize when people come to you they are in need of a helping hand and guidance correct?
How dare you take advantage of innocent people who should be able to rely on the people they are paying to get the service they need.
You are falsely advertising and stealing people's money if you employ people whom are NOT giving the service that BetterHelp is.
If there is anyway this can be righted I will make it happen. Your business is unethical and awful. Who knows how many people you have taken money from for half assed therapy.
They stole $130.00 from me.
Go elsewhere.

Don't believe their prices!
Buyer beware! They trick you into buying a more expensive plan than you are led to believe. I signed up thinking I could choose a $35/week plan. Only after they took my money did I learn I was charged $65/week. In my account settings, I tried to change my plan but it gave me only the option to keep the plan I had or cancel my account. I wrote their support asking if I could change my plan and they offered me "financial assistance." According to the information I input into their application, they offered me a 5% discount. I feel completely tricked. What a horrible thing for them to do to someone who is just trying to get help! I have submitted a request for a refund. I look forward to seeing if they will refund my $65 for the two days I've had the account. Based on the fact they don't honestly publish their rates or how they are determined, I don't expect much.

causes more stress
I joined Betterhelp hoping that the online interaction would be more comfortable, also because it is cheaper than conventional face to face.
I reached out to betterhelp when I was in a tough spot, and needed some help to get things in order.
I had my first councilor for about a week. He barely communicated with me, explained nothing, showed no interest, and then forgot our scheduled appointment.
My second councilor communicated more over the second week, reviewed the process and then provided responses in a timely manner. Again, this councilor "forgot" our scheduled appointment.
I now am on my third week with betterhelp, I have not had a single one on one session with a councilor, even though I paid for a one on one session once a week.
Bottom line: I would not recommend this to someone I liked

They used me for information about myself. I feel violated and I am worried about my personal safety. STAY AWAY FROM BETTERHELP.

Read before you sign up!!!
I signed up without fully reading how expensive this would be. I tried to cancel within 10 minutes of signing up, and they charged me the full $260 anyway, with no counseling whatsoever! Stay away from this company!

This isn't counselling, this is mockery.
A little while ago I was naive & stupid enough to give them 5 stars. Little did I know that everything would "look" great only at the beginning. Well, it didn't take long until I figured out what this service is all about: Yes, they "indicate" you'll pay/week but you end up paying for the whole month, but I wish that was the only problem with that service.
I joined because I was having a very hard time dealing with a lot of issues, just like so many other people. I was in desperate need of help & I still am, thanks to BetterHelp! I thought I'd be able to discuss whatever was on my mind openly with a professional but little did I know that they practically avoid anyone in "crisis". Meaning if you're just looking for a "licenced therapist" who btw, for some reason is not allowed to diagnose you (makes you wonder... right?) & who will engage in really light & casual conversation whenever they feel like it, then this platform is for you. If you're in need of actual help, look elsewhere. After 6 weeks of counselling & two therapists, I can honestly say that I'm so much worse than when I started. I wanted to stick with a therapist, but that wasn't even possible... They offer "unlimited access" to your therapist right? If by "unlimited" they mean how often your therapist can communicate with you, well, that's not unlimited. I've had to wait for up to 3 days to get a reply from a therapist who supposedly would get back to me in "less than 24 hours", Her rule, Not mine . I needed serious feedback & she kept getting back to me in single sentence replies: "Oh, Good for you!". That was seriously disappointing but it get's worse: After weeks of having to wait for days for her to get back to me, I politely asked her to reply in a more timely manner & she promised she'd "commit to being punctual". What I got was, yet again, a single-sentenced "pat on the back" after more than 27 hours. None of my "therapists" were there for me when I needed them, so no these people don't offer support.
Also, make no mistake, many of these counselors are basically glorified life coaches who have their own private practices & use online platforms like BetterHelp to get new clients, so make sure their credentials are legitimate. It's easy to get confused with all the LMSW, ACSW, MFT, MS CMHC,NCC,LPC, CAATC, RAS, PhD titles so do your homework. Bottom line: there's no unlimited access, you get replies whenever it's convenient for your therapist. You don't know about the therapists actual credentials, you see a Master's degree but it's possible it's irrelevant with clinical psychology & in reality they have more experience in other somewhat related fields. Also, they claim they have experience dealing with problems relevant to your needs, but that's definitely not the case. I still have no idea how they match member with counselors... What I got was either short replies with absolutely NO value, or long copy+paste replies they give everyone. The worst that happened to me was that I spilled my guts & was ignored. I wasted money, time & was tricked into thinking I would finally get the help I needed.

The ad given for this app claims that the price is 45 USD per week, then as soon as you register they do charge you 180 USD immediately, why can’t you just advertise you like it is 180 USD a month? Also in add councilor chats with you in real time like you chat with a friend in what’s app – in reality it is not. The first councilor that was assigned to me made it very clear he will answer every 3 days. His answers were impersonal and short so I asked to change a counselor. New councilor definitely took time to read my messages, but also always answered just in one sentence just to keep conversation going: no advice, no reference, and no information. Better save for a real therapist.
