Counselor changed over the year I spoke with her. I think someone else was actually typing on the computer instead of her part of the time. I thought she was ill and tried to contact the company but they did not respond. On the last session she crossed the line and was very ugly and racist. The company was horrible to work with and just ignored me. Just computer generated emails. On numerous occasions there was computer issues and sessions were cut short or the computer was so slow conversation was almost impossible. Lastly the company lies about access to services as much as you need. This is not true, it's just an advertising gimmick.

Do not use this app!!
Do not use this app!!! It is a scam!! These losers prey on people that are desperate and sick. They charged me over $200 with no notice after using the “free trial” for less than 7 days. In those 7 days I BEGGED someone to speak to me. Text me. Call me. Set up an appt. nothing. one doctor replied more than 24 hours later every time even if I replied immediately. It was a robot. Not a human. When they stole this money from me I WAS NOT NOTIFIED IN ANY WAY. Because I was severely depressed I had allowed my finances to go unnoticed. Better help never sent me a notice, invoice, receipt or anything. Thy stole the money quietly and I didn’t even know until 2 months later. THIS IS NOT A REAL APP IT IS A SCAM. Look online. They do not help anyone, they steal money from mentally ill ppl.

Do not trust! FRAUDS
Am I aware of being erratic volatile and unsettled? Could I possibly have mania? I wouldn't even consider talking with them after saying what they did and making me a bad person. I doubt they would even have showed up for the calls or video meetings if I had agreed to pay their fee weekly. I don't trust this and nobody should. I will get actual psychotherapy in October and everything else is futile.

Betterhelp has the worst therapist I've…
Betterhelp has the worst therapist I've ever seen. I've done a lot of face to face and over the phone counseling but the quality of these therapists are terrible.
1st therapist: told me I was emotional unstable and shouldn't be in a relationships with no advice on how I should get help. I think that's very judgmental to tell someone who is seeking therapy.
2nd therapist: responded a little and requested a video conference but then cancelled last minute after waiting a week for the video conference.
3rd therapist: was actually really responsive but then decides to take a two week vacation. I think there should be an opportunity to use someone else in the meantime and go back to that therapist. I ended up waiting 2 weeks to actually talk to someone and now she's on vacation for two more weeks and I have to find another therapist.
Overall I don't think the therapists are really interested in helping people and they're using this platform for some side income. I am very disappointed and will never use this service again.

This company is detrimental to your mental health.
I support the idea of teletherapy but this place isn’t doing it justice, and in fact, is giving the field a bad name. I’m not sure who thought it was a good idea to welcome their clients and therapists with a team who is both rude and unprofessional, that’s if you’re lucky enough to get a response from them. They charge hidden fees if you’re a client and treat their therapists poorly. Don’t waste your time or money - this place does more harm than good.

Unprofessional
I signed up for BetterHelp hoping to get in contact with a counselor. They give you a questionnaire with a few basic questions such as age, gender (with nonbinary option included), what type of counselling you're looking for (LGBT+ issues, family issues, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, depression, etc) and if you have a preference for male or female counselors. After you answer those you are sent to an open chat with an automated message requesting you type out a more detailed description of what's wrong and based on that description they will match you with "one of their 2,000 professional counselors."
I wrote about 6 paragraphs detailing my situation and about an hour later another automated message came up requesting I write more. I added another paragraph and again, an hour later I got another automated message requesting more info so I wrote again.
I didn't expect to get a quick response that day because it was the fourth of July when I applied. But the next day much later I get an automated email stating this:
"Hello Kristin,
Unfortunately, based upon the answers that you provided when signing up, we have determined that online counseling may not be the best resource for you. This decision reflects the ethical recommendations of the major counseling associations.
Online counseling is still a fairly new approach and is not considered the most effective form of care for everyone. In order to ensure that you receive the most appropriate and effective care possible, you may consider scheduling an intake with a licensed counselor who can provide you with in-person counseling in your area. You can find many available counselors by clicking here."
Honestly, this was very upsetting as especially because how unclear it was as to why I wasn't accepted. You approach a company and ask for help, which is their job to help you, and they turn you away without even explaining why. Simply "Our higher-ups decided this isn't for you.
If you have any questions or if you need assistance please contact us at contact @ BetterHelp.com.
"
Personally, I would've wanted an explanation as to /why/ these higher ups decided to refund me because I REALLY need help. Since they seemed open to questions I did email that contact email asking what brought them to this decision. I received an automated email stating they would get back to me within one business day.
Three business days later I still hadn't heard from them. I sent another email restating my question, and they simply respond by sending me the exact same rejection email they sent me originally as if I hadn't read it when clearly I was asking them to elaborate about what was stated in that email.
Try any other online counseling app first if you can like Teladoc or Talkspace. Don't trust these people.

I just got a $250 bill and I have never spoken to anyone. This is a RIP OFF and I would avoid it like the plague.

I signed up for counseling because I…
I signed up for counseling because I was in crisis, The counselor was OK . The main Problem is that I did not cancel the contract and they continued to bill me. A group trying to help people and stabbing them in the back at the same time. When someone is in crisis they are not well balanced and checking their charges. I called the company and no one responded. I feel sorry for the counselors who work with this abusive practice, its very manipulative, What happened to you do a service and get paid? now its we have you credit card number and if you forget or are un able to cancel we will rob you blind. A Poor moral and ethical ground for people purporting to "HELP"
