They told me they couldn’t help me
And suggested face to face but the problem is I hate talking to people face to face and I get nervous talking to someone I don’t know face to face so that was clearly rude and I bet they didn’t want to bother

rip Off!!
They advertise to charge you $50 a month and I was billed $180 for three conversations that I had with a therapist from United States, I’m in Europe and they tell you they have therapists around the globe which is not true, I searched and they all in USA ,so I cancelled immediately (three weeks after joining) as the time difference never worked for me, only to be billed three times the amount they advertise it for!
They’re a rip off and I don’t recommend it at all! Beware !

Like a few others I would like to give…
Like a few others I would like to give 0 stars but sadly that's not an option. I suffer with PTSD and after being triggered recently (and already paying a small fortune for private face to face therapy once a week) I decided I needed more help. I'd seen ads on Facebook for this service and they were also offering a free week.
Over the last several days I've been through 4 counsellors. Every time I have to repeat the same nightmare story and deal with receiving the same canned responses when I switch therapists. It's obvious that no one wants to help you on your free trial and are either pushing for appointments at an additional fee or claiming they cant do live text message appointments thus pushing you to book
a voice meeting again at a higher cost. I've cancelled my account and my bookings within my "free week" but after reading these reviews it wouldn't surprise me if I get charges. I'm glad I see a real therapist, without that this lot wouldve pushed me over the edge. Completely unethical.

Don't fit right away? Gtfo
I reached out to betterhelp on my last leg, needing a less confrontational version of therapy than face to face offered. I've been away from therapy for years due to traditional just not working for me. At first it seemed great although I didn't seem to find a councillor that fit right away. My trial came and went and I still hadn't matched with anyone I trusted, so they extended my trial which was awesome! But then two days later after hitting another therapist that didn't work with me and in matching, I come to find that betterhelp has decided that online therapy is not effective for me despite not having been able to try it yet so they banned my account. I'm waiting on clarification from customer support as to why they would extend my trial and then cut me lose in a matter of days, but had I been any closer to offing myself and if I haven't found another app (pride counselling) that might've pushed me over the edge when I've finally asked for help. 1/10, would protect others from

Fraudulent charges, no customer service = SCAM
This company is a scam. I have $1,080 in fraudulent chargers over a 2 month period that the company refuses to refund. Apparently the app automatically re-signed me up to receive services, and despite never sending a single message or receiving a single service, they've been charging me weekly for 6 weeks at $180/wk. I've requested a refund 7 times and the customer service refuses to cancel my account or refund the chargers. Do not use this company.

If I could give zero stars I would!!!
If I could give zero stars I would. That is their earned score. First, they make you enter payment information first before anything else and that should’ve been a clue to me but I thought I’d be sent info that my “free” trial was ending and that I needed to modify my account. Second, my “counselor” purposely dragged out our messages so that I couldn’t have any actual therapy during my trial. He would wait days to reply back to me I only got as far as asking his hours in the office. Seriously. Lastly, they sent an email about my trial ending, not even 24 hours before they charged me. I immediately emailed them about it asking for a refund and they ended up charging me 3 more times!! Now they’re refusing to refund me at all. Buyer beware!!!! They’re frauds just trying to squeeze and steal as much money from you as possible.

I came to this website for some help
I came to this website for some help. My first "therapist" Karin , cancelled 2 the first 2 sessions because she had to help her "private clients" at the same time as both of my appointments. I requested another counselor and was matched with Mary D. I had to cancel a chat session because I had a small electrial fire at my home and she writes me back and tells me to "have a nice day". Then I rescheduled that appointment for a phone session and she never showed up. After messaging her , her response was she had "internet issues". She may have issues but I don't think it's the internet. I don't know why she didn't use the app on her cell, like I was using. Terrible waste of money. Since I had 0 sessions, I want my money refunded. Go to a REAL therapist.

extremely aggressive sales efforts
tl;dr Dipping my toe in this was a "used car dealership" experience- an aggressive pack of salespeople all trying to make you pay for something you don't really want anyway.
I want an online therapist as my autism makes me more of a written communication person than a face-to-face person. But my search will continue elsewhere, and I'll be warning my friends away from this company.
Main issue is they are horribly aggressive, like cult or military recruiters.
After being lured by an ad with a discount code, I tried to sign up, but due to not finding anywhere to input said code, I bailed. But since I had already typed my email in, they started hounding me with at least an email a day. Several people were messaging me in different ways, this one acting concerned about my needs, that one asking for advice about what they could do to earn me... it felt like when you're feeding birds in the park & suddenly a hundred geese are swarming you. Way. Too. Aggressive.
But since one of the emails offered a free week trial it I figured I may as well.
The shrink just told me to go to some self help site which seemed an awful lot like something I don't need to pay a shrink for y'know? And her fobbing me off like that during my trial period was a red flag. If she isn't willing to pay attention to me now, to get me hooked, why would I expect attention after they've got my money? An "unlimited messages" package is worthless if you are discouraged from actually messaging.
So I gave up and didn't message again. The sales team sent a couple emails a day nagging me "Message her back! Why aren't you messaging her?" so I deactivated my account with them and STILL at least an email a day!
Even if I had liked the service, the harassment would have been a dealbreaker. I have a disabling illness. I don't have the energy to return anyone's calls & emails instantly! And my autism makes me process things slowly, so I am not ready to reply for a couple days anyway. This "crowd of people all yelling at me" atmosphere is NOT appealing. It made me reluctant to open my email because the pressure & questions & nagging was causing anxiety. Yes I blocked them. I just didn't at first because I was still thinking about whether or not to keep trying. The bombardment was what urged me to get out which is comically self-defeating of them. Like a scary beggar, if they hadn't been trying SO HARD to shake me down they likely could have gotten some of my money.
A company devoted to healing isn't gonna hound people like that. A company all about money is though. I think they likely have the same business plan as those chain gyms: convince suckers that signing up is the only path to success, and then when they go to cancel, shame them into thinking cancelling = giving up on themselves. A bunch of monthly dues from people who aren't using the service is a great way to get free money!
My heart's pounding now from thinking back to how aggressive they were. It bothers me to think they aim this pack of salespeople specifically at vulnerable people who are less able to resist than those with perfect mental health. It seems predatory.
If you're an extrovert and bask in attention, possibly you might enjoy being swarmed. If you're an introvert with anxiety, or are bad at boundaries, or tend to be bad at financial decisions, beware. Don't expose yourself to the stress of getting entangled with this company.
