I signed up with betterhelp, started therapy and wasn't met with compassion or concern, just more forms to fill out and a bill for $165. Even with the inconvenience of face to face counseling, at least I don't feel completely ripped off. I would never, ever recommend this service. I received absolutely no counseling.

Came desperate for help n got maybe one response a day and it was always standard responses about how the app works. Waste of money. Keeps you hooked n paying by preying on your depression

First counselor had only an appointment a week later and I signed up. However counselor not respond until more than 10 minutes after session was supposed to begin. She said she was with a client in crisis (the site is clear that it is not for people in crisis) and suggested I find another counselor. The site offered apologies and a free week. I accepted and another week went by before she could connect with me. We had a short phone conversation, then she apologized d that it would only be 1/2 hour but promised to schedule an hour for the following week. An hour before the time of the appointment, she sent a message asking if we could delay starting for half an hour. I agreed Although it was not really convenient. Technical difficulties meant over 15 minutes passed before we had a connection but only through texting. After 10 minutes she told me she had another client and had to stop in 5 minutes - in spite of having said she would guarantee an hour! That was the last straw. I felt ignored, disrespected, frustrated and unhappy. My daughter joked that they treat clients so badly that the clients feel their problem spouses are easier to deal with. Joking aside, this is extremely unprofessional and possibly even damaging. I cannot recommend anyone to use this service.

Disgusting experience for me.

I signed up in hopes that I could speak to someone soon. I got a message from someone a day after they took my money. I emailed them my concerns but never heard back from them the entire day. I switched counselors twice, they did not respond either. I was under the impression you were able to speak with someone and have a conversation when you needed help but all the counselors have certain times they respond to emails. I was never even in contact with someone long enough to schedule a chat. It's not for people who need actual help. The only message I received seemed very scripted, and no response back. If you actually need someone to talk you down from depression or a serious issue please do not sign up for this.

I have been a client of Better Help since March of 2019. They charge me $260 like clockwork each month. My counselor suggested we do a couple mini video sessions, she was not aware that they count it a session whether it's 10 minutes or 45. So Better Help charged me $25 each for according to them two additional video sessions. THAN I realized sometimes the counselor cancels or I have had to cancel and we don't have another time available until the following week so I was not getting my 4 seasons in a payment period all the time I wrote them and asked them to please credit my account the 5 video sessions that were not used since March till now. They stated that "they do not carry over" and that was it. They have no problem charging me when I go over the 4 in a payment period, but won't credit them?. It's to bad too I really like my counselor. It's a rip off though.

Forger using it, dont even try to downlodx the app. They charged me £208 when I downloaded the app and deleted the app(never subscribed for anything )..just disgusting on charging to card illegally.

I am a 24/7 caregiver for my wife who has late stage 4 cancer. We have been in a foreign country for 2 months, no real idea if or when we could leave. I've abandoned my business, friends, hobbies, my entire life. I don't speak the language here. Her needs are endless, things changing often hourly. I have nobody to call, no privacy, no time, no life. I steal what I can for time if the opportunity arises. I tried Better Help. NOT a good choice. I spent much time and energy (at their urging) writing about me and the situation, so they could "best match me" with a counsellor. In reality their software uses the answers to a handful of loaded and incomplete questions that do a terrible job of outlining your need. Then the counsellor paid no attention to what I wrote. She was literally the antithesis of what I said I needed in a person. She was actually exactly who I said NOT to match me with. Then she proceeded to prove to me through her response that she didn't read or pay attention to anything I wrote, making suggestions that, in my writing, I said infuriated me, claiming these suggestions would be therapeutic! Then they have had the nerve to suggest I sift through ALL the counsellors' profiles and choose one. Every profile is nearly exactly the same... a very small handful of credentials I told them at onset mean nothing to me. Every profile may as well be the same person. Nothing about THEM. They went to this or that academy, use this or that tactic, blah blah blah. I was specific in what I needed in a counsellor. Now they refuse to refund me and are simply unresponsive. I would not suggest trying them if you are going through anything truly serious and need a type of person. They don't listen AT ALL.
