Unless you know you are fully committing to this platform, DO NOT buy just to "try." It is just as hard to schedule with a therapist as it would be in real life so unless you have ample time, expect to not see anyone for weeks if they don't have time available. If you switch therapists to see if they have more time available, you'll just lose another week and have to pay for it because more than likely you won't be able to schedule within that week which is what happened to me. If they "reimburse" that week it becomes an arbitrary charge you will not get back. In my situation I wasn't able to see a therapist more than once but was charged for 4 weeks (they claim i received two weeks free but it is beyond me how i could have used this service for 6 weeks and not know about it). I emailed asking if i could get any of my money back for the weeks I did not use, and they claimed that THEY CANNOT GIVE YOU ANY MONEY BACK. They can give you a "free week" but nothing beyond that. NOT WORTH "JUST TRYING."

A really horrible experience. My counselor was extremely delayed on the first session due to "technical problems" - she is supposed to know this stuff if she works for BetterHelp - Omg, I am so disappointed with BetterHelp. Second session - SHE DOESN'T SHOW UP. Let's see if I get a full refund or if they steal my money.

BetterHelp.com might (barely) escape the label "scam" in the classical sense, but it hardly matters. I've rarely come across a company that's so disingenuous and duplicitous. For example, under their FAQs they state: "You can get counseling in four ways: * Exchanging messages with your counselor * Chatting live with your counselor * Speaking over the phone with your counselor * Video conferencing with your counselor You can use different ways at different times as you wish, based on your needs, availability, and convenience." Sounds great right? Especially when they also use the term "unlimited" liberally in their advertising and sign up process. However, I detected a con job instantly after I'd finished the sign up process. Contradicting their initial promise, they now stated that "Please note that your messages with your counselor aren't in real-time." Can you believe it? To clear the matter up, I sent them a detailed email asking a series of pertinent questions. They took 3 days to respond, and the reply was full of obfuscation and outright dodging my queries. I terminated my contact with them at this point.

BetterHelp took my money and I did not receive any help. The "counselor" was ignoring my messages, he only send me work sheet that had nothing to do with my problem. I didn't get my money back. It made me feel worse than before.

I wasn't aware that subscriptions would be made by pre-approved payment. A payment scheme than I never would agree to. and such payments would roll over every month and I still waiting to learn whether this payment has been cancelled. I can't say I found the counselling at all helpful, the counsellor seemed very slow to respond and took the week-end off despite your claim of 24/7 help. No doubt in part due to the operation being based in US another thing that I wasn't aware when I signed up. I didn't feel that I got anything from her or even that she had read what I had sent to her I had one counselling session which was a disaster due to the fact that we had to communicate through a keyboard, for some reason my phone wouldn't contact to Betterhelp.

Do not make the pay wall come up after you make the people write their first question. That is very cruel and manipulative. The fact that it's a pay service is fine but absolutely make that obvious and clear before any commitment is made. Aweful! I can see that doing some serious damage to some of the people you say you're trying to help. In reply to the comment: it absolutely was not transparent web I went to the effort to write everything down. It was exactly like one of those online quizzes you do where you do the whole quiz and then you have to put all your info in before you get the result. Manipulative and in appropriate for a site that's trying to help people. I urge everyone else to read the other reviews about the charges, poor service, and poor customer service before spending any money here. It sounds horrible. Spare yourself the extra stress and find a counselor irl.
