I paid for 4 weeks, but then my assigned therapist had only time the other week. I realized that they should charge per session and not per week. By forcing you into 4 week plans, they profit of people who need help, but whose therapist or other circumstances make it impossible to schedule a session. Not cool, Betterhelp!
Update: they reached out to me, and extended for the week i lost, which I think is very positive. However, I feel bundling the service with stuff you dont want is not customer friendly. The main benefit is the human interaction with the therapist.
Response from BetterHelpOct 23, 2024
Hi Philipp,
BetterHelp memberships are based on time rather than session usage, as sessions are only one feature included. For a bit more context, a membership includes unlimited messaging (text, audio and video messaging) with therapists, access to a digital journal where you can share entries with your therapist as needed, goal tracking, worksheets, and more. This is all in addition to the option of scheduling a weekly Live Session.
That said, we are always happy to work with our members to find the best ways to utilize their accounts. Our Member Success Team can assist if you find your therapist's availability doesn't work with your own and typically respond within 1 business day.
In order to make sure we are able to address your concerns, I am going to request the email address associated with your BetterHelp membership. You will receive a form from TrustPilot shortly so you can provide this information and we look forward to assisting you soon!
Sincerely,
BetterHelp Team

pretty damn good
Betterhelp is not able to give official diagnosis, however that does not mean that the therapists there don't know what they're doing. the price is reasonable, (considering that therapy is expensive as heck anyway), and the app is super easy to use. being able to mesaage your therapist at any time, which i believe is Betterhelp's biggest up side, is huge for anyone who just wants support and information. would greatly recommend

BetterHelp is a better experience.
BetterHelp is a great way to be able to explore the world of therapy at your fingertips and from the comfort of your home in a less formal way. It is great for people who are not sure if they need or want that type of help. It is also great for people who do not want other people to know they need to use these types of services. BetterHelp is great for those who are constantly on the go and busy and works with a wide variety of schedules. I enjoy using BetterHelp because it allows me to not have to leave my home and gives several options on what works best for me and my needs. I also enjoy the group classes they have available as well as journaling.

great platform for affordable online…
great platform for affordable online therapy
I came across BetterHelp through a social media reference. Its been a pretty good experience so far. The platform is pretty good, and works well for scheduling, messaging, and video calls. They have a very large network of therapists to choose from. And it can provide some structure , e.g. like worksheets/assessments which can help therapists understand how you're doing over time. The rate is very reasonable. And they are very flexible with allowing you to pause the service if needed. It is a good platform, but it did take me some getting used to their format of doing online therapy, as I'd only done in person. If you are in a serious crisis or need to really go in depth, it may not provide what you need, but if you get a reasonably experienced therapist, it will certainly help and it's affordable. That said, my first experience with a therapist was not good. She was pretty terrible in fact, but it was pretty easy to switch to someone else. And I was able to give detailed feedback to BH about her. The second therapist was much more professional and very helpful. I am now able to get free therapy through another source. I would come back to BetterHelp in the future.

Apart from the few odd-balls, this service is perfect for anyone curious about mental health.
It’s a brilliant option for anyone concerned about mental health. One on one sessions are complemented by group sessions too, which is remarkable value for money.

A great app overall
I like that Betterhelp has an all access platform where you not only get live sessions with your therapist, but that you can participate in live workshops or talks with users going through similar things, and that they also have a journaling section. Their customer service is also responsive.

I have used this service like four…
I have used this service like four to five years ago(the date doesn't even exists for trust pilot that long ago). Bear with me this is a long story. I have mixed feelings for this app because at the time I was in a really messy problem and I was a teenager (around 17 years old). I was in a very very toxic relationship and I had no idea how yo leave but I knew I had to, so I asked my mom, (was living in a poor economy country at the time so therapy was really hard and not easy to get) to pay for just one month, because at this point I was also self harming and literally pulling my hair out in a frantic panic and definitely not myself. My mom agreed and gave me money to get a two months sessions instead, so I got matched with a therapist. That followed by me sending literally the messages my toxic at the time partner, now ex to that therapist a lot of the time because I didn't even know what to do or respond and was in so much fear, pain and wanted the abuse slurs mainly to stop and not being called a w*ore for five seconds, there was a lot but at the time I wouldn't explain it as much as just directly copy text the texts when we were not even physically together as they even by itself explained a lot of it. So the service actually helped me without realising for the future. She send me files and things for improving self esteem and was genuinely there when I would resend my toxic ex texts and panic on them asking what to do. After a month I did feel better, not great but somewhat it did help, just having the support as it was the first time in my life I asked for help like this. I remember during she became slightly harder to get a hold of like a decreasing curve of having time for in personal sessions and then as much to text. The two months passed and I stopped as no more money xx After like a week I received a message from the therapist I worked with saying if she has done something wrong since I stopped, and why did I. At the time I tho that is so weird, she had literally no time and now is chasing me almost, but also I considered the possibility that she was just caring, although I couldn't respond to her as I had to pay to do so, so sadly I couldn't even let her no money, sorry (which by itself made me question if that was on purpose so I do pay to respond, apologies better help if its not the case x BUTTT after 3 years from that experience (about two years ago) as an adult (I was diagnosed by actual physical psychologists(i.e. as in not a platform) from the NHS in the UK with PTSD and following went to cognitive group therapu plus one on one . So. All I will say. Completely different. Cognitive understanndable, but the way they diagnosed me, helped me, the things we spoke before even the diagnosis - absolutely astonishingly different. I showed my NHS one some of the things the better help women send and they straight up told me that those are nice but not the work I need for my case and its not the plan that is needes so I can get better. I cannot stress enough it was absolutely different, it doesn't even compare. So overall, 1. It's definitely more of a couching therapy, BUT 2. it also can be a really good first step as it was for me. If it wasn't that therapist/whatever they are even if they are an ice cream, I wouldn't have ever gotten proper help and opened up to the idea. So if you need like REAAALLLY series help, please try to go to an actual one, if you can't or are not ready I would honestly say go for it, worse happens you pay to have someone motivate you to potentially do the extra step or loose some money and you start from square one, but if it does help you actually long run get initial help so you can actually reach out for a hard-core one that you just simply cannot or don't even understand you do, this one is like the perfect step in between. But if you need to pick definitely go to a in person one. That being said I am thankful to them and that therapist, weather its a bit overpriced or even them slightly pushy for money, they honestly also helped me and even maybe saved my life in the long run so both not ideal, confirmingly not people in my opinion that can handle big mental problems but also very happy, and if it works the overprice is going to be worth it, as sometimes we do need a step in between. Either way decided to share having the weird experience and history.
