Very expensive but if you can afford it, it can help. Watch out for payment issues though, they WILL cancel the therapy session and you are completely unable to talk to them. Which is actually awful treatment if your patients who are clearly in need. In my experience I got matched with a great therapist from Chicago right away. Being from France I was set aback at first because of the time zones. But we figured it out eventually. I’ve been with her for about nine months I think. She helped me to be more stable (I’m borderline) and to vent when I was going down. She has taught me great tools and I’m overall very satisfied with the work we did together. I’m sad I wasn’t able to say goodbye but I don’t want to follow through with BetterHelp. Shout out to Marianne Costales-Roman, if you ever read this! Thank you so much for your kind words, availability and the great help and I wish you the very best in the future!

We're really happy to hear you had an overall great experience with your therapist, Estelle. I'm sorry if you had any sessions canceled during your time as a member! This would generally only happen if you canceled your membership and your time expired prior to the session you had scheduled. When canceling, you should be shown how much time you have remaining, and this information is also sent to you via email so you can hopefully plan accordingly. Our Member Success team is available to help with any questions surrounding your account and billing, and can sometimes adjust your membership to help allow for a final session if it's already booked if you reach out ([email protected]). I'll request a bit more information from you, just in case you'd like us to reach out to you directly to see if anything can be done! Thank you, BetterHelp Team

They have a rather quick and progressive matching system with you and your therapist. Cheaper compared to real life therapy and you can choose how to do your sessions (chat, voice or video call), as well as match to a therapist that fits what exactly you're looking for. The flaw that made me very distrustful towards BetterHelp however is that the therapist matched to me didn't really try to understand the core of my issue, and hurried to pick a solution or a "gotcha!" moment before hearing my entire situation. The therapist also will tell you how the process will take many sessions and will set up a goal-based schedule for probably every case, however while it may help someone out there, in my eyes that's just a way for them to earn more as you stay subscribed for longer. The four sessions I've had could be better spent learning more about my situation and picking the best way to deal with the situation rather than picking what works and shoving it into every case.

Just hopping back on here to update. I was trying to get a refund from Better Help. It wasnt easy but it did get sorted. Just here to set the record straight that they did refund me. Thank you to Better Help for following it up. Yes it was a bank issue! Though I still wouldnt use them as its a 'gym membership' model so even if you havent found the right person or havent time to follow up you still get charged per month. And the $65 a month advertised cost was actually $250 per month. But fair play to them they did refund me.

I find BetterHelp super helpful at the moment, because I have brilliant therapist. If you are not careful, you might end up with bad therapist and create even more trauma in your life. Be selective and really careful who you choose to work with your own mind and heart!!!

Being connected and being accessible to a great therapist is amazing because I live in place where booking a session with a therapist takes months… because of the waiting line. Therapists are limited here. The fact that I got connected to someone in 2 days was so helpful.. so for urgent reasons… it was very useful for me to speak to someone right away. But for ongoing subscription it is an issue for me.. Going through ups and downs due to metal challenges… there are time when weeks go by when I am unable to do anything.. I stay in bed… fighting my own thoughts… including ashamed and speak to my therapist through this app.. it’s why I am here.. to help myself to get out of bed and show up… For 2 months I was unable to show up. I was very depressed. It didn’t help that I had to pay for this app when I mentally and physically couldn’t even use it. It actually makes you feel worse as you lose money…. Over 600 dollars for nothing. For me… that is a lot of money… And I start doubting the true value of this app to help people.. I hope I get my refund for those two months… and I hope this app is really here to help people… and not just about on going subscriptions.. There should be a very obvious, accessible “pause” button to pause subscription for days when we just can’t do it.

Thank you for your feedback, MJ, and we know sometimes it can be hard to mentally participate in therapy. Please know we are always here for you in these situations. Our Member Success Team works diligently to make sure our members are able to use their account in the best ways for them, and they would be happy to review your account for assistance. They typically respond within 1 business day, but I am going to request more information from TrustPilot, so we can look into this situation further. Looking forward to speaking soon, BetterHelp Team

They actually don't take many types of insurance, at least not mine, so they claim to offer financial aid. I had to contact them multiple times to actually apply the discount after filing out the paperwork. Once they never bothered to do it and claimed the problem was my bank. It wasn't. You're better off finding therapists elsewhere without the questionable bureaucracy overhead.

Therapist was wonderful. BUT I don’t appreciate the system that Betterhelp forces. You to have a monthly subscription/4x counseling sessions per month to get the most for your money. I wish you could pay per session instead of per month. Sometimes I would have a busy month and wouldn't have time / or I wouln't need a counseling every single week but the monthly subscription costs the same. Doesn't seem fair. Or one time my counselor had to cancel and then she didn't have any more opening that week. So then I only had 2-3 sessions that month but really I'm payring for 4.
