I would give a zero star review if I…
I would give a zero star review if I could! Counselers did not give a damn about patients and just saw them as a number and would pack as many clients as possible. No human contact, Counselers with more issues than clients,zero professional, customer support Un responsive for complaints...

A traumatising and racist experience!!!!
Please avoid Debra Miller. She is one of the counsellors on the Better Help platform and she is sooo racist that I had to hang up the phone on her mid session. Her racism meant she was literally unable to accept my reality, which is that I come from an educated, affluent family in Africa. Instead she INSISTED that my entire family, as Africans, were likely violent and mentally unstable. When I explained the reality, that my family of origin are well educated professionals, she asked me if I hear voices and if I imagine things that aren’t real. Bizarrely she also kept insisting my mother has bipolar disorder, even though she’s never met my mother and my mother has never shown any signs of being bipolar. Truly horrifying and traumatising experience with this “therapist”.

This website exploits vulnerable people…
This website exploits vulnerable people who need help. I was signing up for this website with a promise that i get 1 week free trial before billing. I have used alot of services before who has this promise. And everyone exept this website kept their promise. When i put in my card information (like everyone asks for) they billed me immediately 260usd for a whole month. It was all money on my bank account. I stopped the subscription immediately, and contacted customer service, who does not respond about returning my money. I payed 260 for nothing. And i still would like my money back. This is absolutely illegal in my country, and the website is clearly not about helping people, but taking their money.

Free trials are offered on a very limited basis, and generally only to those that create brand new accounts through a unique URL via a promotion. Don’t give this company your hard…
Don’t give this company your hard earned money!! Better Help refused to refund me my money after THEY were unable to pair me with someone in my own country…even though they claim on their website that they can. After lots of promises online about being able to pair me with a suitable therapist at a time ‘convenient to you’, Better Help paired me with someone that was 11 hours behind me. Not convenient! After fairly making my case about cancelling, they said I had to pay $80 towards this even though I hadn’t had any sessions, used no resources and the error was on their side. Absolutely disgusting, money grabbing and unethical company.

Didn’t take the time to learn about my situation or story. Confusing advice. Borderline inappropriate content such as telling my partner to join my therapy session. More interested in finding out about my partner than helping with the reasons I sign up for therapy

Not ready to offer the UK market
I am from the UK. Firstly, BetterHelp advertises its sessions for £49 (or something like that) and when I finished signing up they took £180 from my account. Secondly you should get a choice of therapist and only one therapist matched with me and she was a white American lady who has nothing in common with me. Getting a refund was quick so thanks for that.

Fake fake!!!! Don’t waste money as I did
Fake fake!!!!! I paid and there is not option to complain or have my money back! Groupwinars are fake as they never never start, and the therapists only reply to say “ looking forward to speak or know you” but never ever appear in the session!!!!

Groupinars generally start on time and are rarely cancelled, but cancellations can occur if a the counselor hosting it has a tech issue or an emergency. In these cases, we'll send a notice to the attendees once we're made aware of the cancellation and will let them know when the Groupinar has been rescheduled for. Regarding your experience with your counselor, it's not common for a counselor to not show up and we'd love to make things right for you if this was your experience. Just awful!
I had such a bad experience on BetterHelp. My first therapist cancelled my very first session an hour before I was meant to have it which left me extremely upset as I had a lot to talk about. I changed therapist straight away because I was so let down. My second therapist was nice, but I didn’t feel like she was helping me at all. She was saying the usual cliche sayings and not really saying anything beneficial. I lost hope after that and cancelled my subscription after only 2 weeks. I won’t be using BetterHelp again and I would not recommend it to anyone!!!! Waste of money and time.
