We have been customers of American Home…
We have been customers of American Home Shield for years. With each claim, of which were very few and minor, it was not without hoops to be jumped but, got resolution so I couldn't complain.... until.... our air conditioner went out last year. After the "covid shortage" of supplies of condensers was resolved we did get the air handler replaced but did pay "out of pocket" for freon charge to "carry us through" until the new unit could be installed then again had to pay to get new unit charged.... but living in Texas, you do what you have to do to survive in the summer. Then 10 short months later our ac goes out yet again. We are told it's "a leak in the coil" on the NEW air handler. We were told "due to them being made out of "aluminum" they are not made to last and had to be replaced. We were then told OUR out of pocket financial responsibilities to pay were going to be $985. The AC repairman said that was for the recharging of the unit with freon and on the form from American Home Shield it said replacement of coil due to "normal wear and tear" of equipment. We were without ac for 5 days in JULY in Texas...The repairman came with new coil, we were told was "most likely the coil but possibly the copper tubing from the inside air handler to the outside unit" and would be sending someone to go in the attic and check it out... they did not. They installed the coil. Pressured it up. Said it held pressure and sure enough held pressure, so the coil was in fact bad and proceeded to charge it with freon. Then upon further review, it would not hold. We were then told he could not fix it as he didn't have the copper tubing to replace what must be leaking and would have to come back the next day. We told them to leave as by this time would be going on the 6th day with no air conditioning and temps at 90 degrees inside our home we could not tolerate the heat another day and called a local ac repair company. Within 2 hours the tubing was replaced and we were back in business. The coil they replaced I have NO doubt was not faulty at all. I told them when they got here if they would just test the copper tubing before they replaced the coil that is what the problem is but the man told me if I would just let him finish what he was telling me, he would explain what he was going to do.... I did, he did what he said he was going to do and it didn't work....American Home Shield hides behind their sections of they don't pay and why but they continue to pay the thieves they contract with. oh well, we tried to alert them what this company did but to no avail. end of story.... AMERICAN HOME SHIELD.... CANCELLED.... x2
