Blocked calls causevissue
My 97 year old Mom who lives alone has had the Bay Alarm service for years. A week ago she pushed the alarm button by mistake. She could not understand the Bay Alarm rep because the speaker distorts when the rep speaks too fast and too close to the mic. Now, when the elderly person does not respond, Bay Alarm first calls them to be sure they are ok. Then they call the phone tree of family contacts. When they called Mom, they could not get thru. They then called the ambulance which did show up to the surprise of my Mom. I would think Bay Alarm would have called me as her emergency contact to notify me that Moms phone is blocking their calls. Unbeknownst to me, Moms new phone I installed had "800" number blocking turned on automatically. It took me to call Bay Alarm to ask why they could not get thru. I feel they should have notified me that they cannot reach the #1 client, my Mom. So I called and it took 30 mins for Bay Alarm to suggest, " we use 800 numbers from our call centers. Maybe you're Mom has a block on her phone." Once I checked, her new phone did have the block on. We corrected that problem. But I also asked Bay Alarm to make a note on my Moms chart to talk clear and slow when they respond to her.
