Backwater ReptilesReviews of backwaterreptiles.com

Temperatures have been very low in CO making shipping difficult. But Backwater Reptiles makes it clear and easy to target specific shipping dates, which was great when a one day weather window finally opened that made it safe for our turtle. He arrived in an insulated box, still plenty warm and surrounded by moist fluffy stuff in the container to keep him cushy. They packed him like I would have packed him, and I'm picky. First meal was a smaller bladder snail in his tank that made a slight error in path, maybe 15 minutes after being unboxed, that's a fairly relaxed turtle in my book to be interested in food so quick. Very pleased. My only nitpick is that as the turtle was a Captive Bred specimen, it would have been nice to have had some sort of certificate or the ilk listing a hatch date. However this was not promised or hinted at, more of a suggestion. I received what I asked for, and in excellent condition. 5/5

Backwater is a company with high standards of customer support and quality animals. I ordered a ball python and he showed up in perfect health. Good skin, eyes, and scales. Very docile. It was immediately apparent that this juvenile has been well cared for and socialized throughout the first year of life. Backwater answered a number of email questions promptly and courteously. I would highly recommend buying from them. The low ratings are a complete surprise to me, as they went above and beyond with their customer service and quality of product. Please use them for your next order, and write a review to help them get the reputation they deserve. Great job Backwater!!! I’ll never use another company again!!!!!

I had a very good experience and would order from this company again. I would advise using caution ordering in the winter if you live in a cold state. Their "live arrival guarantee" is voided if your temperatures drop below 40 F, which is in the small text so people complaining in reviews just don't know how to shop online. I did have multiple emails with customer service rescheduling my delivery due to winter storms and my own personal schedule, and they were always prompt and professional, and my animal arrived alive.

Will no longer buy from backwater reptiles after a recent Instagram post condoning North West's bearded dragon having a gemstone supposedly glued to its head and held in uncomfortable positions for the camera. Did not expect this company to support this behavior.

All my pets came in great condition! Very happy.

Honestly I don’t think they even deserve a star we have tried to get ball pythons from them three times. they close too early for people to email them and every time they either cancel our order or we cancel it our self. This time our female ball didn’t even show up! I’m pissed do not trust this company they are not reliable and their customer service is horrible!!!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! This company is a scammer & do not own up to their guaranteed. I purchased 2 yearling green iguanas. They were delivered to me the very next morning DEAD! I did as they requested & place them on their back & send them a picture along with the mailing label. They have made several unethical excuses not to refund run me my money back! They had the nerve to ask me if I would like another one for $44.95 for shipping.. I don't want nothing from them but my money!! Im contacting the better business bureau! I tried to allow them to make it right by not posting any reviews but im pissed off now. I repeat stay away from them

I recently purchased a male RETF. I was that person that did not read the reviews first before ordering. After payment I received two emails as proof of purchase I did pay the extra for the over night shipping. After reading the reviews I was in shock! I was so afraid I was going to receive either a dead or sick little boy. The next evening I received the email with the ups tracking number and arrival time. He was actually delivered early so that was a plus. As I opened the box I saw a white cup with a lid and that was it i opened it to find my little guy inside with a small piece of sponge for water I assume. As I put him in my hand I could feel how cold he was. The poor thing was so cold that he curled up in a ball in my warm hand. So I frantically did everything I could to slowly warm him up as not to put him into shock. But once this little guy warmed up he was a lively beautiful and very vocal. Although he is not happy about quarantine because I have 5 others and my setup is large enough for me to house him in a container inside the set up. It helped him get the heat and humidity that he needed. So in all I can say that it wasn’t a terrible experience but I do with they would have put the warm packed in there as it is winter here in MD.
