I moved out on the 28th June and am yet to receive my license termination agreement as 15th July which is beyond the 15 days expected in this company's policy. Your bond is not protected by the RTBA. The company is based in Miami, not Australia as the name suggestions. The property was sublet to myself illegally by Aurent and their host Bullion Trading. Vina has been the only person who has responded to my messages but as of yet, no progress has been made. Aurent state in their policy that they themselves do not hold the deposit however if after 15 days the host has not returned the deposit then they have a Guarantee Deposit Protection policy. However, they have not activated this. I have taken legal advice regarding Aurent and would suggest any traveller and backpacker to avoid. UPDATE: Received my license termination agreement 26 days after moving out. This now apparently triggers another 15 day wait for money to be received. Please do not trust this company,

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended for international students I stayed with aurent in Carlton, Melbourne for about 8 months, and it was one of the best decisions I made after arriving in Australia. Finding accommodation from overseas can be stressful, but the whole process was much easier than I expected. The team answered all my questions before I arrived, and the check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow. During my stay, whenever I needed help, someone from the team replied quickly and always tried to find a solution. I also liked living with other international guests, which made settling into Melbourne much easier. The room was exactly as described, the common areas were well maintained, and the house was in a great location close to public transport and supermarkets. I also received my Guarantee Deposit back after my check-out, just as explained in the agreement. I would happily stay with aurent again and would recommend them to anyone looking for reliable medium or long-term accommodation in Australia.

BIG SCAMMERS - we found out that they’ve been illegally subletting someone’s flat to us. They never protected our bond and therefore we have no idea where our bond is. They have breached both their Residential Rental Agreement and the requirements of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) regarding subletting without the rental provider's consent. We’re now filing a claim against them. Give us our money back!! Big scammers.

When I moved out of an Aurent property on May 6th the customer service at Aurent told me they were returning my guarantee deposit (Over $1000) within a week or two. those 2 weeks went by and I received nothing. They signed a document agreeing that it would be returned within 15 days but that also passed and I still didn't receive anything. I was communicating constantly with customer services and the administration team for weeks to no avail. I eventually received the money from them on July 17th, over 2 months after moving out. This came shortly after leaving a review on Trust Pilot about the situation. Since then they have been emailing me, trying to get me to change or remove my review, they even reached out to a former roommate and got her to ask me on their behalf! So here is my review. If you have recently moved out and they are illegally withholding your deposit, I encourage you to leave a review here detailing your experience. They seem to care about their image more than their customers. If Aurent is reading this, please stop contacting me.

I moved out in jan 2026 and have been waiting over five months for my Guarantee Deposit refund. On 11 April, Aurent confirmed the refund with a 3-business-day processing time. It never arrived. When I followed up till late May, I was told the transfer had been "cancelled during processing" — with no proactive communication from their side. I resubmitted my bank details the same day. As of now, the funds are still not in my account despite multiple follow-ups. Beyond the deposit, I experienced repeated unannounced property inspections with no prior notice given. On multiple occasions, staff entered my private room in my absence without my knowledge or consent, a serious breach of privacy and basic tenancy rights. Penalties were also applied without any prior warning or written explanation. Aurent's website states, "We've got your back if your host doesn't return your deposit — we will." In practice, this has not been my experience. I have now escalated to Consumer Affairs Victoria. I would caution international students, especially, as deposit delays and lack of communication appear to be a recurring pattern based on other reviews here.

Awful awful customer service just a nightmare from start to finish across 3 properties. Moved me multiple times. Cleaners showing up without any prior notification. Host was not even legal owner of 1 of the properties we were staying in so I had to move, I went with another aurent property for ease but I then got kicked out short term with 7 days notice to find a new place of another property because the other host started auctioning the property. To top it all off the final host tried to snake his way out of giving back my $1,000 deposit. I had to resort to legal action to actually get it back ot took 3 months. Speaking of deposit pretty sure they don't actual lodge the deposit with the official Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA), not sure if they were supposed to or not but because there is no contract they can just do what they want with it (in my case just try to withhold it on false grounds which was on me to prove as false)

I've recommended Aurent to two friends since I started using it. One's already moved into a place through them.

Terrible customer service once you've paid. The only way to contact them is either through a bot WhatsApp that gives no meaningful answers or a generic email address that simply goes unanswered. You'd be better off sleeping in your car than arranging a rental through these jokers.
