So-so help.
Um, I get too many apartments for NJ (90+ minutes minimum commute each way to/from work, if i get the position; I’ll know more next week. Gov’t is ssslloow). I’m primarily looking for Brooklyn studio furnished apartments for minimally a year. I get too many other apartment ads that are outside of my specified requests.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share this feedback, Kevin! Apartment List "flexes" on location to show you the most options that match your criteria, but I totally hear you that when you're looking for something specific that this can feel unhelpful. Will share your thoughts with the product team! -Melissa, Customer Experience

Showing me listings that are above my budget is not helping. Being able to see more listings in surrounding areas would be more helpful
Response from Apartment ListOct 23, 2026
Thanks so much for taking the time to share this feedback: we're always expanding our inventory, but our "flex" feature shows listings above your budget that meet your criteria to maximize the options you see. I hear you that flex can feel unhelpful and that you want to see more listings in nearby areas, will pass this info along to the product team! -Melissa, Customer Experience

They deliver what they say they'll deliver. The fact my person can't afford what they're offering Is immaterial... housing prices are just too high

NO RESPONSE to my apartment application
applied for an apartment, was told the apartment would become available to rent 10/1/2026. I've been trying to get in contact with someone for the last 3 weeks and I get ZERO response. But the apartment keeps getting relisted. I don't understand why its so difficult to get in contact with someone. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I guess I am just another number and seems like they are just cashing out on people's applications. smh!! Well there's $100 Ill never get back. I cant believe I paid for an application fee just to be blatantly IGNORED! If I didn't get the apartment why not just say that? Why ignore potential prospects? Not a good look.

Hi Demara, we’re sorry this happened. As properties are responsible for their own applicant communications and application fees, Apartment List isn’t able to step in on either directly. Please send the property name or address to [email protected] so that we can look into this further for you and follow up with the property on our end. -Melissa, Customer Experience

Apartment list sent a invoice to my apartments for a apartment that they did not help me find. I found my apartment through FindMyNextApartment. Apartment list sent a invoice to get paid for finding the apartment which they did not find. I was supposed to get reimbursed for putting FindMyNextApartment on my application and now I cant get my reimbursement because they stole money that they had nothing to do with finding my apartment. This company are thieves and they know they had nothing to do with me finding my apartment. This is illegal.

Hi D Strong! If you'd like us to validate and investigate the specifics of your lease's attribution, contact us at [email protected]. For more context, in order to provide free apartment searching tools to renters such as yourself, we rely on passing along leads to our property partners who advertise available units on our site. When you create an Apartment List account and contact an apartment first on our platform, this is considered a "lead" and Apartment list is attributed with the lease you sign because you saw and contacted the property on our site first. You can read more in our privacy policy here: https://www.apartmentlist.com/about/privacy Warmly, Melissa, Customer Experience

Fraudulent safe haven.
I discovered a clearly fraudulent listing and they have not removed it after getting the true owners information into the support department. Dangerous personal information is given to fraudsters.
Response from Apartment ListAug 28, 2026
Hi Maxwell! We take scam listings very seriously and strive to action them ASAP when you contact us through [email protected]. We're also actively working on building better scam removal flows that are built into the Apartment List experience so that we can keep renters safe. If you can provide more information through TrustPilot or our support email, I'll investigate this for you. -Melissa, Customer Experience

Sends tour requests without your knowledge
I think it’s a great concept but I REALLY don't like that they sent viewing requests through to apartment buildings that I liked. I had ZERO knowledge that that is what they do. Now all these places are emailing and messaging me non-stop and I never gave knowing consent to share my personal info with these people. Absolute nonsense and a complete nuisance.
Response from Apartment ListAug 6, 2026
That's a fair frustration, and we're sorry for the experience. To clarify what happened: when you engage with a property on Apartment List, a "SuperMatch" prompt sometimes appears. By opting in, it does share your contact information with that property. We don't send a formal tour request, but that initial contact is made to let the property know you're interested. I've shared your experience with our product team so that we can improve. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Melissa, Apartment List Customer Experience
