WATCH OUT. Anthem will stick it to you.
Anthem at first appears to be your knight in shining armor, out to rescue you from IRS problems, then they morph into a more parasitic role, out to destroy you financially. I was placed on a payment plan with the IRS which I couldn't keep up with, and the IRS placed me in "default." Anthem then started hammering me with my "default" status, as if Anthem was another face of the IRS. Anthem wanted over $30,000 to do the same work they'd done for me two years ago for $8,500 which was set me up with an IRS payment plan. I told them "if I had over $30,000 on me, do you think I'd be in default on my IRS payments?" Then, yep you guessed it, Anthem whips out a super high-interest loan they can offer through a vendor, so I can now pay the IRS plus a gigantic monthly fee to cover my Anthem bill. Screw Anthem. I worked out my IRS problem for free.

Jim, we’re genuinely sorry to hear how this experience made you feel. We understand that being in default with the IRS can be incredibly stressful, especially when you’re already dealing with financial pressure. We can understand how being presented with additional costs or payment options that felt out of reach added to that frustration. Your feedback is important to us, and it’s concerning to hear that you felt pressured rather than supported during a difficult time. That is not the type experience we want for any of our clients. We would like to learn more about what happened and address your concerns directly. If you’re willing, please reach out to our team at (888) 548-0478 to schedule a phone appointment with our Director of Quality Assurance, Gina Moreno. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you. — Anthem Tax Services
