My Relationship with Amazon Has Changed After the Most Recent Debacle
Normally, I would give Amazon 5 stars for the best customer service in the world, but customer service agents can only do as much to help a customer as Amazon allows. This I must say at the start.
This review is really both for Amazon and SmartSign. I will not go into detail about the reason I needed a sign. I will just say that a totally incompetent person came to mow my lawn and mulched it instead. I was then tasked with trying to bring back grass, weeds, anything to stop the mud and soil erosion.
I went to Amazon and looked at tons of signs and read tons of reviews on each sign I considered. I ended up choosing a sign from SmartSign. They have a quality control issue.
First sign arrived not fully coated with the protective coating. I immediately notified Amazon with photos and ordered a replacement. Second sign arrived with the same problem. Both were returned. I spoke to no less than 35 different agents at Amazon before I FINALLY received a $14.01 refund more than a week after they received the signs, processed the return, and marked it as "return complete." During this time, they kept demanding I send them my I.D. I refused. Amazon must think people are daft. No one in his right mind is going to send his I.D. to Amazon or any other company on-line.
During all of this I contacted SmartSign and told them the whole story. The man replied, "I can offer you a 15% discount on another sign." I was stunned. Why would I want another sign after receiving two defective ones? I told him he could offer me a 75% discount, and I still would not buy another one of their signs. They have quality control issues that they simply are unwilling to remedy, and what I went through with them and Amazon to be refunded a measly $14.01 was simply surreal. NO CUSTOMER should have to speak to 35 Amazon agents and still not receive a $14.01 refund for defective signs that were sent back and confirmed received.
After this experience, I no longer trust Amazon and its vendors, and within the next few months, I intend to close my Prime account and likely close my entire account. NO CUSTOMER should have to go through the aggravation I went through to receive a $14.01 refund for two defective signs. My feelings about Amazon have totally changed. I do not recommend Amazon after this, and I do not recommend SmartSign under any conditions.

I received a notice I was in violation…
I received a notice I was in violation of Amazon policies. Of my last 10 orders or so with Amazon one I never received, a second one I only received part of the order.I in fact asked for a refund in its entirety for the first order. On the second order it was a package of the same item. The agent stated he could not do a partial refund or reship a partial shipment., The agent decided to refund for the entire order. I did not ask for that. Of the remaining 6 or 8 orders. 4 of them were not received on the date that was promised at the time of purchase. The last order I had with Amazon was promised a delivery date of 09/25/26 it was not delivered. It was then promised for 09/28/26, again it was not delivered. It now has been promised on or before 10/01/26. Of my last approximately 10 orders 6 of them had issues! I understand occasionally something may happen, but not 60% of the time! When I made inquires about my orders the Amazon Agents took it upon themselves to refund partial amouts for the orders. They then evidently classified the refunds as "customer did not receive." The letter I received stating I was in violation of Amazon policy listed a website I could file an appeal. I did so. The response I received was essentially a rewording of the original notification with various addresses I could go to read their polices. I am done with Amazon. I will pay more and buy locally. I am tired of wasting my time contacting them 60% of the time regarding my orders.

An item that did not function, is not valid reason to return
Caution. Amazon ads are fraudulent. I purchased an item that stated it was returnable. It was a handheld device that was designed/sold as an insect repelling unit that featured a heated surface to repel insects. The ad stated it was returnable. No specificity regarding requirements... just like other ads "returnable" .. I received item, opened box and attempted usage. It did not repel anything. Thus, useless as advertised. I attempted to return and was told I could not because I opened it... which was not flagged in ad. Fraudulent ad.. selling a device that doesn't work as intended. ... a useless item sold under a false pretense... proclaiming it would repel flying insects. Conclusion: Amazon is not a trustworthy web merchant.
