Excellant, Unforgettable Trip
American Israel Tours provided excellent service in the obtaining of tickets and coordinating the group coming together in a certain place. They were in constant contact with our tour guide knowing our every move and needs. On the day of leaving, our return flight home got canceled by United due to a computer blackout. AIT was there with new flight assignments and worked with United to provide hotels and meals for those who had to stay extra days. I fortunately I was able to be put on a Delta flight that same night and arrived home delayed by only a couple of hours. The hotels we stayed in were all 5 star with great service. The breakfast and dinner buffets were overflowing with any type of food or drink one would want. I was totally amazed at the amount of information provided and the places we were able to visit in such a short time (7 days in country). We visited or saw over some 40 plus sites. Our Guide Simon was wonderful. He is very knowledgeable in both Jewish/Israeli and Christian history as well as the Bible. When appropriate he always made applications to the Bible. He was very pleasant and attentive to the needs of our group. He was with us at all times. Making himself available for any questions or concerns. Our bus driver Shimon was also wonderful. His driving skills showed greatly as he maneuvered our tour bus through the tight, small streets, and up, down and around hills sides. No matter when or where, he was there and always on time. He was also very pleasant and attentive to the need of our group. One greatest need was water and he always had a stock of cold water bottles on the bus that we could purchase for a $1. My greatest surprise was the amount of walking we had to do and the fact that it was always up or down a rocky ground or a cobble stone street. Tennis shoes are a must for this trip. However, this did give a more realistic understanding of some of the things Jesus had to overcome during his ministry travels. Those who have gone to Israel have said that seeing the "Holy Land" makes the Bible come alive. I now understand why and have found this to be true. This is one unforgettable trip. I would recommend this trip and American Israel Tours to anyone. Some have asked about safety. At no time did I have any concerns about safety or feel threatened. My only regret is I did not buy enough souvenirs.
