AllTrailsReviews of alltrails.com

I have used Alltrails several times to just plan routes and import GPX files. All fairly simple, although I find calling a trail a map confusing, even technically correct. Marked paths seemed consistent with OS UK paths. Using community trails also worked OK. It was clear that the route was following a right of way. Purchased the subscription so I could download maps and navigate using the app. Using a Samsung S20 all worked fine, Followed a 12k walk using the Alltrails mapping. This is a bit lacking in detail, so tried to download satellite view, but did not seem to work. Following a GPS track was OK, but without way points you cannot get a distance to next turning/ feature. 3 stars because the basics work. Would expect a bit more for the subscription though. Have not had to try to cancel a subscription so can’t comment on that. Though turning off auto renew was simple.

just used Alltrails free trial at Fountains Abbey, worked pretty well, but will cancel as a) had great difficulty ending the walk and b) found that it had used 50% of my iphone battery after 3 hours which is nor acceptable.

Need to add feature where you can edit your trail. Twice now it has finished our walk prematurely. Which then shows we haven’t completed said walk which is very annoying as we like to tick each walk off upon completion. Simple as making a feature to carry on after accidental finish

Looks good, several things to improve though, among them separating the stats of a trekking from the car trip to get there, did not find where to do that so my stats were useless, km, speed, etc... May give it another try when they fix it! I uninstalled the app but forgot to cancel the trial period and was charged without warning (I understood a reminder was supposed to be sent before the end of the trial, which did not happen). Contacted them via their Facebook page and Got the refund quite easily. Thanks!

I’ve just deleted the All Trails app because yesterday, for the *second* time, we found that the route marked took us right over private land. Had to take a huge, long detour with three small children just to get off someone’s property. We have had some lovely walks with All Trails (hence the three stars) but I cannot deal with how stressful and mortifying it is to find yourself unintentionally trespassing. The app has been going for many months now - enough time for the developers to iron out issues like this. We also use the Go Jauntly app (the free version) and have never encountered any problems with the routes.
