Four weeks ago, after 5 years on All Trails, my hikes were showing erratic, sharp lines on the maps when a hike was ended. The distance recorded was also inaccurate. Now 4 weeks after contacting and communicating with All trails the issues remain without a fix. For a recent trip to Baxter State Park, I used free Gaia and was quite pleased with the app. The app wasn't woke like All Trails, didn't ask me a lot of nonsensical questions and let me record my hikes accurately. I was told by All Trails that the engineers were working to solve my problem. I am trying to cancel my recent Plus renewal with a refund, but I am not getting anywhere. Bye , Bye All Trails hello Gaia.

Jeg har købt abonnement, men synes, de har mange tekniske udfordringer, som google ai-tilstand oplyser er kendte fejl. Fx hvis jeg vil tegne en rute, kan jeg ikke få den til at gå tilbage på noget af strækningen. Det er jo helt håbløst, da det ofte vil ske, hvis man ønsker starte og slutte samme sted. Den fryser også, så når man fx har tegnet en rute, og så vil tilbage og se, hvad der ellers findes af ruter, så må man lukke siden ned, og starte op igen, for ellers kommer blot et helt hvidt vindue. Og hvis man søger på danske områder, ender man ofte i USA. Det er dybt godnat. Den burde have 5 stjerner, for er man ude at gå, så viser den ret nøjagtigt, hvor man er, og alle stier. Det er ret fantastisk. Men de tekniske udfordringer er ganske enkelt så mange og store, at det trækker gevaldigt ned. Det betyder, at jeg vil bevare Alltrails og håber, at de får løst de tekniske udfordringer. Spørgsmålet er, om man tør stole på den, hvis man er på vandreture i udlandet.

I have been a payed member of AllTrails for many years. Unfortunately, I noticed a continuous slow degradation of the experience throughout this time. The main issue happened about a year ago, when a lot of pre-marked trails in their map disappeared. I know that some of them were not really accurate, or non-existent on the ground, but since they removed many of the pre-marked trails, it's hard to use the app. Also, this might be subjective, but I found that most of the new feature that the app brought recently, just didn't apply to how I use the app. In conclusion, I think that AllTrails is slowly caving to enshitification and I will reconsider my membership soon.

Die App war soweit gut bisher. Habe das Probeabo gelöst und erst jetzt in den Rezessionen gelesen, dass es anderen so ging wie mir: Probeabo mit versprechen einer Erinnerungsmail vor Ablauf. Habe keine Erinnerungsmail erhalten, Betrag für Jahresabo wurde einfach abgebucht. Schade. Wenigstens mit offenen Karten spielen braucht es schon für eine seriöse App

Always liked AllTrails, even pay the subscription for the downloads and route creation. I am disappointed with your 'create route' feature removal! New features typically drive new package levels, not removing them from lower levels and popping them on the new one to charge extra. 'Peak' price point is more 'Peak season' than it is 'Mountain Peak'! OS is cheaper, think I will stick with them. With this and the fact that downloads still requires you to open with with a bit of signal at times (even googlemaps doesnt do that) Think id rather pay OS instead! Cheaper and more reliable

I was an AllTrails user for many years—until they doubled the subscription price without offering anything new. Between AllTrails and Gaia GPS, I would have been paying around $160 a year to keep both—but once GaiaGPS raised their price too, I dropped them as well. Haven’t looked back. Toward the end of my time with AllTrails, the app was failing on almost every hike or backpacking trip. I’m on the trail two to three times a month, and I was seeing about a 90% failure rate with major tracking gaps. I contacted support multiple times—they were polite and acted like they cared, but nothing ever improved. I couldn’t rely on the app, so I had to run a backup tracker, which just drained more battery. Now I create my own GPX routes for free using GPX.Sutdio (no dot com) and load them into Organic Maps (just don’t forget to hit “Record Track”). It’s a little less intuitive than AllTrails or Gaia, but with maybe one extra minute of effort, it works just as well—and saves me roughly $160 a year. I still occasionally use AllTrails for researching routes, but the constant subscription pop-ups are annoying. Not going to happen. Ever. Final thought: I understand that companies need to make money, but it seems like every time a popular app gets bought out—like both of these did—quality drops and prices skyrocket. I genuinely wish them well, but judging by the growing number of negative reviews, the writing is on the wall.

Not a bad app. A bit clunky at times. My main reason for the 2 star rating is they recently added a rather cool "Recap" feature that shows your hike in 3D. Problem is: sucks data. 500MB for a 3 hour hike. I travel internationally and this is expensive. So I want to turn the feature off. I try customer support, get sent to a Bot who says they will send my question to a human. I get nothing. So I go to the website, send an email, and the same D$@# Bot gives me the same answers. I am done with AllTrails.

UPDATE: I complained to AllTrails about difficulty canceling the subscription; they responded in less than 24 hours (on a weekend) and refunded the $35 charge to my credit card. So…my experience with their customer service is very positive (unlike many of the other negative reviewers). Five stars for customer service, one star for the app and UI, and I upgraded my overall review from 1 to 2 stars. Original review: I should have read the TrustPilot reviews first. We were on vacation in Estes Park and looking for hiking trails so I downloaded the app and was forced into a "free trial". I found the app to be barely useable on an android phone--it was difficult to search by location and filter according to difficulty, and ads kept popping up asking me to subscribe to Peak (more money). I also tried the app on an ipad and it was worse! Also, the default settings are an invasion of privacy--your name and activity are shared publicly--bad!!! I originally subscribed on alltrails.com via my phone's browser, but to cancel, it was necessary to use a computer. I didn't discover this until a useless $35 charge turned up on my credit card. I have used Gaia GPS in the past and think it is much much much better. Gaia GPS is not so intuitive but is filled with great information and, most important, the app respects the privacy and autonomy of its users. If it was more money I would request a chargeback with my credit card company because of deceptive advertising. Stay away.
