Fantastic prices, poor customer service
Let me start by saying that Allivet has really great prices on most of my dachshund's prescription meds, and I appreciate it as it saves me a significant amount of money. The delivery is also prompt. However, their customer service leaves quite a bit to be desired, at least their email support. A couple of days after I'd placed my latest order, where I specifically marked that I would be mailing my prescriptions, I received 3 emails from Allivet: First one, that they have contacted my vet for approval (even though I specifically noted in the past that my vet does not give scripts/approval to a third party, which was (obviously) why I was mailing a script to them). Barely an hour later, a 2nd email arrived advising me that my order was "on hold" and "further action was required". I could not make the USPS work any faster so I could not take any further action. The 3rd email arrived 50 minutes later and contained a "second reminder" and an urge for "further action". That happened after I had written back after the 1st email advising that I had mailed the prescription and strongly insisting that my vet be not contacted -- they have told me they do not respond to 3rd party requests and do not understand why they keep being contacted on my behalf -- and frankly, neither do I. A day later, I received yet another email about my vet being contacted for approval. I have sent multiple emails to Allivet during that week, and never received a response to a single one of them. To their credit, once they did receive the scripts I'd sent (again, the USPS worked as fast as they do and I have absolutely no control over that), they immediately sent the meds, and as I've mentioned above, their prices are really good. When I contacted them by phone today (I want to place another order, but I also want to make sure my vet does not get harassed again, so I needed my customer number in order to send the scripts ahead of placing the order), the customer service representative, Ashley, was courteous and helpful. But it still boggles my mind that my vet was contacted despite my explicit instructions to the contrary, and my emails remained without response, not even so much as "sorry, won't happen again". The bottom line is, I would recommend Allivet but with a caveat. If your vet gives copies of scripts to a third party, you have nothing to worry about. If they don't and you don't want them harassed, make sure you send your scripts in ahead of time, and only then place your order. The prices for most medications are significantly lower than those your vet will charge, and the delivery (once they have the script) is prompt.
