Terrible. I am supposed to have both my knees fixed in 2 weeks and now Aetna turned it down saying it is chronic pain. Several at my wife’s work have a lot of problems with claims. Aetna is choosing what we have done instead of Doctors. They have started socialized medicine on their own. Steer clear!!!!

Circular process to review formulary. Never can get to it

AETNA PHARMACY MANAGEMENT/CVS are the same company. AETNA PHARMACY MANAGEMENT issues a prescription for me to CVS pharmacy. CVS doesn't text when prescription is ready as is standard procedure. I call CVS pharmacy three times to confirm prescription is there and am on hold for a total of 1 hour and 55 minutes with no answer. So I miss taking vital medication for one day. I call the CVS pharmacy the following day and no one answers my four calls. So I call AETNA. After half a dozen calls to AETNA customer service, who are so unhelpful, I got them to transfer the prescription to a pharmacy close to my office. However, CVS pharmacy is still not answering the call to transfer my prescription to the new pharmacy. So I call AETNA again and am hold for a supervisor for 47 minutes. No solution is produced and I am left without my vital medication for another day. CVS and AETNA are horrible companies for treating a customer this way.

AETNA is what forced me to switch to CVS, and you can see my complaint about them under their listing. I have been trying to get a medication for over 3 weeks now. I have called my pharmacy many, many times and have been on hold for over an hour for this by now. JUST TODAY I found out that AETNA doesn't cover this medication and I would have to pay $170 for it. I tried to check on their website if it was covered, and it's not anywhere to be seen. However, I also do not understand how their website works well at all. I's not intuitive and it just doesn't work right. Forcing me to switch pharmacies and not covering my medication for a rather common short-term illness is absolutely asinine.

I've had Aetna as my insurance and I've worked with them on a professional level. They fail on both accounts. Good luck getting them to pay for ANYTHING. They are really unprofessional and constantly tell me that they did not receive paperwork even after it has been faxed several times and the fax number was verified and then when they do receive the paperwork they don't read it. I constantly have to call and have the reps put notes in the system to actually read what I've sent them because the responses have nothing to do with what I requested in the first place.

Aetna Medicare outsources their customer service to India. The people are so nice and really want to help but are not given the tools to provide solutions for the customer. Their provider information is outdated. Some are out of business or do not provide the service needed. I spent hours on the phone with the represenative trying to find something so simple. A provider for diabetic shoes which is covered 100%. Meanwhile my husband's shoes continue to rub sores on his diabetic feet which I fear will turn into wounds. No help in sight........Weary Caregiver

Don't make the mistake of signing up for Aetna! I'm a European expat without alternatives. I need to pay them about $500USD (+500USD from my company) per month for their awful "service" so my current strategy is to only dispute claims over $250 since I end up spending about five to ten hours on getting my rightful claims back (I often do end-up winning in the end). They will do everything within their power to deny your claims and put burden of proof on you even if you follow their process perfectly. A couple of tactics on rotation: - Blanket denials of claims (I think they do this randomly as I can have an identical claim be accepted at one point and denied at another). - Requiring manual copies of claims to be shipped internationally (again, randomly). - Disputing the necessity of a claim over a medical doctor's advice (Who is even making these rebuttals? definitely not a medically trained person!) - Not answering / replying at all. - Extremely non-functional website which is down half of the time (just the claims part), I cannot shake the belief that they do this on purpose. - They also have "dark patterns" everywhere. It is unnecessarily difficult to find information about anything related to payments/claims. I have a personal document with all the required steps which I need to update every once in a while when they """upgrade""" their services. If you are not like me and do have a choice: stay clear.

I reside in Thailand, I was a member for a few years until in January this year, I woke up in hospital, yes i paid my own fees. There was some dialogue with Aetna, but it was a waste of time. On the 7th February this year, I sent them 49,000THB to extend cover. Turns out they never applied the cover, i'm fighting to get my money back now
