Call them 3 times with the same question and you'll get 3 different answers. Your premiums will be average, but the cost of RX will be from 25-80% more expensive. In most cases paying cash for your meds will be so expensive that paying cash out of pocket will be cheaper. Today I spent 4 hours trying to get a straight answer about cost of and location for blood work. BLOOD WORK!!! This simple stuff and Aetna completely failed this very simple task.

Aetna takes forever to process claims. I had to resubmit a claim twice because Aetna messed up on their end. My claim is still in review despite my being told a couple weeks ago that it would be processed soon and I would be getting a check. Highly doubtful that I will stick with Aetna when open enrollment opens up. Aetna needs to improve their claim processing times. Very unhappy with them.

Can not log in in their badass website and can not find doctor near me because your website is badass asf

The pharmacy information section of their website is non functional making it impossible to locate a preferred provider.

Mistakenly signed up for Aetna HMO through NJ Familycare (also a one star organization) only to find none of my doctors are in network. I'd be driving 30+ minutes to see any doctors. Sure, I made the initial mistake, but don't offer coverage in a county and remove half of our options. To top it all off the website is an embarrassment. I thought I'd been redirected to a phishing site for a second because it's so barebones. Do better. For the amount of money these parasites rake in, they can afford to.

I made the mistake of switching to an Aetna PPO plan from BCBS through my employer. The plan went into effect on 1/1/24. I've been having back issues for the past year and have been treating throughout that time. On 1/10/24, I underwent a cervical nerve block and on 1/11/24, a letter was generated from Aetna denying the procedure because they didn't receive notes saying I didn't have at least 3 months pf severe neck or back pain.... Clearly I'm a new member as they have no other narratives for my condition which should lead them to look further into the matter however, they didn't. They denied without doing or researching anything. You'd think these people would have some type of medical knowledge or common sense. Now I have to spend hours on the phone and help these halfwits do their job as they clearly aren't capable of doing it. I actually work as an insurance fraud investigator having access to several agencies which I'll be reporting Aetna to for obvious stupidity and incompetence.

They get no stars they lie, change your doctors. All they are about is taking money they don’t earn. Aetna sucks

This is the most apathetic and least professional company I have ever worked with. They claim to be the “best international insurance provider”, yet they have no idea how the health care system operates in the country I’m currently living in. I needed a knee surgery after realizing I had a broken piece of bone in my joint. I had to go back and forth with Aetna for MONTHS and they continued to tell me that they will not provide a GOP in order for me to have an absolutely necessary surgery. It was only after my employer’s HR department reached out to Aetna that Aetna allowed me to have the MRI and surgery. They finally submitted a GOP (guarantee of payment) to the hospital where my surgery was performed (delayed months because of Aetna’s lack of compassion and urgency). I thought that the nightmare of working with them was over, until I realized that they never paid the hospital for my GOP. They were going to allow me to be taken to court for not paying in a timely manner. When I first received the bill, Aetna told me that I do not need to pay it, and that they would do so per their GOP. To my dismay, they never did. The hospital sent me two letters that I needed to pay. I called Aetna at least 8 different times to get them to pay for the surgery. Each time, I was assured that they would pay and nothing was needed on my end. After two months of Aetna neglecting to pay, I ended up asking Aetna if I can just pay for the surgery and have them reimburse me (they guarantee a 100% reimbursement). They said yes so I paid and submitted a claim. They claimed that my bill was not itemized, which the hospital had said they cannot do. Now they are trying to avoid paying for a surgery that they guaranteed the hospital payment for. If only I wasn’t a US citizen and could elect my own health insurance….
