Was diagnosed with a torn knee…
Was diagnosed with a torn knee meniscus. My doctor prescribed arthro surgery. After submitting an MRI the people at Aetna insisted that I complete 12 weeks of PT before they would approve the surgery. I completed this last week. My doctor re submitted everything and now Aetna will only approve a knee replacement as treatment because the MRI signs of arthritis. I almost have full range of motion with some at times moderate discomfort. Also I had arthro on my other knee last year. MRI showed signs of arthritis and the arthro was approved without a hitch. My doctor feels strongly that at this point a knee replacement is not good medicine and I agree. Friends of mine who had knee replacements had to go through a lot more than 12 weeks of PT to get their replacements approved. We were misled thinking that 12 weeks of PT would get arthro approved and now they want a replacement which will cost them more
