Excellent design and build quality - eliminates the need for a separate leveling base
I purchased this ball head to reduce the number of components needed when I travel and it has worked out very well. The integrated leveling base design enables me to bring just a nodal rail to shoot panoramas as the ball head serves the function of both a panoramic rotating platform as well as a leveling base for the camera. Design has been very well thought out and the build quality is excellent. I highly recommend Acratech and will be purchasing more of their equipment in the future once my (non Acratech) equipment wears out!

Hi Dave, They say that necessity is the mother of invention and this is how our creation came to be. At first, the open ball was to save weight but it had to be strong and easy to maintain....who doesn't want that? Then as the years went by we incorporated the gimbal and then the leveling. Many people do not realize or use the head to its fullest capabilities. It is so much more than just a ballhead. Thank you so much for realizing the simple beauty of our ballhead design.
