I was disappointed with the finish
I was disappointed with the powder coat finish, which does not wear very well. All my other plates from competitors are anodized.

Hi Bill, You obviously have some manufacturing knowledge to know the difference between powder coating and anodizing. I can assure you we have never powder coated any of our quick release plates. Everything we make is anodized. Because our anodizing vendor also does aerospace parts we have certifications on every part we anodize. So every quick release plate we have ever made is anodized and we have certifications to back that up. Somehow you must have mixed up our quick release plate with another brand.

The level bubbles do not align up.
In September 2020, I received the two products I purchased - Acratech Leveling Bases - Fast Tripod Leveling and Acratech Panoramic Head - each has a level bubble. When fitted to my Gitzo tripod the two bubbles do not align up, as expected. They are about half a bubble out. I have sent two emails in regard to this issue and have not had any reply!!!

I am sorry that we missed your email. We really do try and return every email in a timely manner. Somehow you email got lost in our inbox. I apologize for that. We are also available by telephone 909-392-7522. Upon doing a search I did find 2 emails from you. We did respond to the first one (a request for information) and this one that we inexcuseably missed. Certainly the levels should agree and we always stand behind our products. Please be assured we will take care of it. It should still work just fine until can you send it in for the following reasons: The levels are extremely sensitive meaning that a small amount of change of angle causes a large change in the position of the bubble. Even something as thin as a piece of paper under one side of the head, can shift the bubble to over to the edge of the black circle. In fact if it is anywhere near the black circle you are more than level enough for photography. Less than ¼ of a degree will put the bubble past the edge of the black circle. I'll give it 4 stars if it is not that…
I'll give it 4 stars if it is not that bulky and weight a bit. The other thing is the tensioner knob seems don't do much except like the other locking knob to lock in the tilt movement. It is a bit pricey too.

Hi YJ, The tension knob is not meant to be used as a locking knob. It just adjusts the amount of the overall tension. It is a bit pricey but in the long run, they will outperform and outlast other less expensive units. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I believe that over time you will come to realize the value of your new purchase.
