Really delighted with the service we have received from Robert Berry booking our Maldives holiday. We had a fairly good idea of what we wanted in terms of hotel, and after an initial conversation Robert came back promptly with two suggested hotels to consider. Long story short, A&K were considerable better value than anything else I could find so we booked. The real icing on the cake was that Robert called me later on the day I had booked to say he had managed to find out that the hotel was due to release an even better offer later that month and he had managed to get us onto that deal, saving us a further 18% on the cost of our hotel booking. Really happy to recommend Abercrombie and Kent and Robert in particular who has been friendly, proactive and prompt at getting back to us.

From the moment we arrived in Cairo where the excellent Faddy Farid, seemlessly made all of the arrangements, including our transfer to Jordan. To the Cordinators, guides and drivers in Cairo, the Nile Cruise, and Aswan where once again we were met with kindness and efficiency. The staff on the cruise boat provided faultless service and we enjoyed excellent food. To Daoud Salman and Sami in Jordan, our excellent guide and driver whose knowledge and skill made a truly memorable holiday as well as very good company. To Abercombie & Kent who selected wonderful accommodation, with special mention to the Old Cataract hotel in Aswan, the Sanctuary Sun Boat 4, and the Bedouin camp at Wadi Rum. All in all a truly memorable holiday deserving only praise in both Egypt and Jordan. Perhaps the only comment I would make, having paid to upgrade our flights to Club Europe with B.A., was the lack of leg space provided in the two BA. flights from and to London. (There was more space in the internal economy Egypt and Edinburgh transfers than the Club Europe flights.)

We wanted something very special to celebrate my 70th birthday. A&K rose to the challenge delivering on everything we wanted, including Japanese food, cooking courses, Japanese culture and historical (old and recent) and religious buildings and ceremonies. The guides were very knowledgeable and thorough. The choice of hotels was excellent, to also include Japanese Ryokans.

The trip to the Galapagos was not a quality experience. They put us on a three star La Pinta boat and it was an experience that left me feeling this would be my last A and K trip. We then continued to Peru and Macchu Pichu. This part of the trip was amazing. Our guide Franklin was amazing. The guide on the Galapagos acted like he was in vacation and we only saw him at lunch and dinner.

The quality of A&K service and local guides has gone down dramatically in the past 6 years. It used to be that your luxury travel consultant was nice, helpful, sent a “goodie” to your hotel room abroad the first day, and called upon your return to see how everything was. Now, it feels like you are bothering them to book a trip— they don’t even really want to do Tailor Made trips. I feel like I had to run down all the info (hotels, sites, etc.). They constantly try to force you to do 8-9 hour tours in a day (or sneak it in) to upsell you when you say you want a free day or half day. And they certainly don’t care to ask for feedback on return. I like to think when I’m spending $30,000 a week for 2 people that I will feel valued and appreciated. The local guides told me that A& K only contacted them 10 days before our trip (which we booked 7 months in advance), and it really showed that they’d thrown something together. No longer do the guides purchase tickets in advance and you skip the lines to museums. Now it’s “wait over there while I get tickets.” It’s impossible to email corporate A& K with feedback. I guess since the pandemic is over and more people are traveling, that A&K no longer has to try hard for business. It’s showing and I’ll rethink using them after 20 years.

Robert and the Abercrombie & Kent team were a pleasure to deal with throughout the process of booking our honeymoon. They did their best to ensure we received the best deal possible, they were extremely responsive anytime we contacted them and we felt reassured throughout the process. We couldn't recommend them highly enough.

We have never used a travel agent before to arrange a trip but our experience with Abercrombie & Kent was a game changer. It was a joy not to have to think about how to get from A to B and every single element of our two week African adventure went without a hitch. The drivers were all a pleasure, the cars immaculate and we were made to feel special at all times. I cannot recommend Abercrombie & Kent highly enough. If you get a chance to book a trip with them, you will not be disappointed!

Our Bhutan honeymoon was a truly wonderful experience. Crucially for Bhutan we had an outstanding guide and driver provided by their in-country partner Dharma Travel. In-country choice of hotels was superb across each of Thimphu, Gangtey, Punakha and Paro and we made avoided sticking with only one of the luxury international hotel brands to ensure a diversified set of experiences. Each of the lodges and hotels made a special point of recognising our honeymoon with little surprises along the way. Also, A&K’s app helped ensure an organised itinerary and that the daily details were always on hand.
