My wife and I were looking to book a trip to Egypt & Jordan. On the A&K website I found an itinerary that was customizable and appealed to the interests we have. After spending hours on their website selecting options, looking at dates, we developed a list of questions and set up a call with one their "experts". When I had the initial call, the A&K rep seemed confused and disorganized. He was asking me questions that we had already completed from their questionnaire. When I mentioned this to the rep he fumbled around and then said I was right and he had the information. We then set up a follow up call that he would give me more information on the timing and itinerary. When I dialed in for our scheduled call, the A&K rep didn't dial in. After 20 minutes I sent an email asking if we needed to reschedule. About 15 minutes later I received a reply that his prior call had run over, which I understand can happen, but why couldn't he have reached out to let me know? So we did reschedule our call and we had a discussion on dates and pricing and he said he would be back in contact in a week. Two weeks went by with no follow up or reach out from A&K. At this point I decided A&K was not for me and I reached out to Jacada. My experience with Jacada has been wonderful and highly professional! We booked our Egypt & Jordan trip with Jacada and will book future travel with them and definitely will not waste any more time ever considering Abercrombie & Kent again !

Looking to book first luxury African Safari. Called and received 3 options to review within two hours after the call. Reviewed over the weekend and called back on Monday leaving a voicemail and also an email to please call me back. Heard nothing as of Wed, left another message around noon saying I as looking to buy and please call back. Still nothing. Clearly A&K had other bookings looking to pay more than the $40k I was looking to spend and they were too busy to contact me back. I don't mind that but they should let you know up front rather than just ignoring you. Moving on to other companies and asking them how closely they can mirror the A&K safari that we liked the most.

We spent over A$100,000 on a three-month South America trip with Abercrombie & Kent, and it ended up being the worst holiday we’ve ever had. Based on our experience, I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a genuinely bespoke luxury travel service. From the very beginning, it was clear our preferences weren’t being listened to. We specifically said we don’t enjoy guided tours except where absolutely necessary (such as Machu Picchu), yet our itinerary was filled with them. That set the tone for the rest of the trip. Our first experience in Medellín was arriving at midnight with no airport transfer waiting for us. The hotel chosen also wasn’t suited to us, despite there being a much better option in a more central location for only a small additional cost. Throughout the trip we also experienced constant “meet and greets” where someone would accompany us on transfers or even walk us a few minutes between the airport and hotel. While this may suit some travellers, it was exactly the opposite of what we requested and felt like an unnecessary use of our travel budget rather than a personalised service. The biggest disappointment was Machu Picchu, which was the highlight we had been looking forward to most. Our guide travelled with us for almost two full days, including train journeys, meals and the luxury Hiram Bingham train, meaning what should have been a special, romantic experience became something we had to share with our guide the entire time. We were never given the choice of a local guide or told our visit would be split over two days. Despite making it clear we dislike early starts, our second entry was booked for 7:30am without any consultation. We ultimately skipped the second visit altogether because of this. There were also avoidable administrative mistakes, including being told at lunch that our prepaid meal wasn’t included and being asked to either leave or pay in front of other guests before the issue was eventually resolved. The recurring theme throughout the trip was a complete lack of flexibility and personalisation. We repeatedly felt like we were being fitted into Abercrombie & Kent’s standard process rather than receiving the tailor-made luxury holiday we were promised. For a company that markets itself as providing bespoke, premium travel experiences, the service simply did not justify the price. There are many excellent luxury travel companies available, and based on our experience, I would strongly recommend considering one of them instead.

I was set to go on the A & K Patagonia trip on 2/20/26. I found out that I had a herniated disc and had to have an epidural so that I could go on my trip. Unfortunately my health care provider could not fit me in until February, but still in time to go on the trip. I was able to get an earlier date in. January, but unfortunately, Kaiser (my provider) went on strike and told me that I couldn’t get in till the strike ends and my appointment won’t be until late March at the earliest. My pain management doctor tried to give me another type of epidural shortly before I was supposed to leave, but it didn’t work and due to my condition, he said I can’t travel anywhere for a month. My travel agent contacted A & K and thru her I asked for them to keep the money and I will book another time. I had her tell them that even if the price goes up, I will just pay more when I can go. She told me that A & K refused to let me book it for another time. Thus, they kept the money. Thus with extras, I was out $6,000 after my insurance paid the policy limits of $15,000. I am not pleased. I have been told by many people that they have had similar situations and the travel company always just keeps the $ and you can rebook at another time. I think this is bad customer service. They just said no. No explanation other than it is not their policy from what I’m told. I was able to get the epidural and was able to leave on March 5th for South America to do the rest of the planned trip in other parts of S.A. I am upset that I didn’t get any opportunity to reset the trip and save my $. It would have been a win win as I thought this would be a company that I would use in many places as they are solo travel friendly and I do several tours a year. I'm just disappointed in this company.

The worst experience. We stayed at Chief's camp in March, everything went wrong, no customer service, we lost a lot of money and nobody was responsible for anything. This camp I should mention changed ownership, and was previously a really great place - before this owner moved in. I would never again travel with this company

We have used A&K many times in the past and have had mostly good experiences. Recently we contacted them about a Tailor Made trip to Morocco. The agent said she was going to work up an itinerary and get back to us. We never heard from her, contacted her 2x additional times, no response. We tried to contact the manager in charge of the Tailor Made trips and received no response. A&K has lost it and us.

So far I give this company the lowest possible rating and we haven't even started the trip. 1) They didn't listen to my needs for the 1st class custom tour. From the beginning I said we needed to end the trip in Phuket. They are ending the trip in the remote north of the country , not the south! They don't respond with answers or modifications to comply to our needs. Managers won't respond to my please for help! Have no idea of trip details 3 wks prior to departure, other than hotels. Started with them 6+months ago. The 1st travel consultant went on maternity leave. She seemed good. Once they got our money, equivalent to a really nice care purchase, they have been frighteningly bad. I could go on....I am beyond frustrated. I have never in 40+ yrs of travel had such poor trip prep service!
