Out of date batteries installed in my car
Order number 100067 was installed in my car on Nov. 10, 2025. On Feb. 17, 2026, my car had a dead battery and Order #109924 was assigned. On Feb 18, 2026, a very professional 1-800Battery.com tech replaced the battery, taking a photo with his cell phone of the battery tester showing the battery showed 2 volts. As the tech was removing the battery from my car I noticed a sticker on the battery indicating the battery was shipped in November 2024, a year before it was installed in my car. As is 1-800Battery.com procedure a credit card charge for $125.00 was made; however despite the cellphone photo of a defective battery - I was still charged the $125 - contrary to 1-800Battery.com's stated policy. Quote from 1-800Battery.com website concerning service fee on a defective battery: “There is a fee that is charged for technician to come out and review the installation, check other charging components on the car and if the battery is defective we will waive that charge. If the battery is defective there will be no charge at all for a warranty check. If the battery is ok then the charge will remain.” After I contested the charge on my credit card, I was not charges the $125. In May, the replacement battery was also dead. I contacted 1-800Battery.com telephone number and spoke with a young woman that I had not spoken with before and she advised that replacement batteries did NOT have a warrantee, and she also fussed at me saying that I did not drive the car enough (never mind that I was out of town). Needless to say that will be the last time I contact this outfit!
