ZoneAlarmReviews of zonealarm.com

Almost no user alterable settings. So when you install a new program, you have to fight Zonealarm the whole way through the install experience. Besides that, any company that sends me a "Happy Holidays" email at Christmas time immediately goes on my "don't buy anymore list".

Installed it Next time i rebooted windows, windows would not boot up. I got that message page about problems with some options such as to do a FULL reset or try a system restore. I chose system restore....LUCKILY it worked. When Windows rebooted successfully, Zone Alarm was gone. One day later, eveything is still fine.

Only wanted the free Firewall which seemed OK but had to uninstall after a driver epnetflt.sys would intermittently cause Windows 10 to crash. Uninstalled via the Control Panel but after re-boot I checked Task Manager and found a number of Checkpoint processes still running which when disabled would auto restart. On further checking I found a large Checkpoint folder which had not been removed by the uninstall. Tried to delete manually but couldn't as files were in use. Booted from a live CD and deleted. This still left various Checkpoint .sys files in Windows32 folder which were being loaded by entries in the Registry. Had to use the Sysinternals Autoruns program to delete the Registry entries and then manually delete the .sys files including the troublesome epnetflt.sys file. After this another issue I had had with Windows refusing to shutdown unless the shift key was held while clicking on shutdown disappeared. This program is Malware - avoid. Now using the inbuilt Windows firewall and my whole system is running more smoothly using much less memory and disk space.

I have used the software for nearly a year and it works well and better that Norton which I was using. But I have impaired hearing and the Support Team in UK seem to speak with heavy Asia accents and the gable their words so they are difficult to hear. The initial 'sign up' documention leaves a lot to be desired in term of passwords and account sign in. Bill

If you watch any online videos, to include YouTube, please DO NOT install ZoneAlarm. My laptop isn't fast (1.86Ghz to be exact), but I was able to watch any online videos without interruption before I installed ZoneAlarm. I did not think it was Zone Alarm that caused the issue, after all, it was only an antivirus software. I deleted Zone Alarm to test it out, and instantly, after a reboot, I was able to watch videos without interruption. The speed felt rejuvenated to youth again. Thank goodness I didn't pay for a year subscription.

Deleted a few files on a pen drive and noted they'd just been been renamed and moved to a new folder called SandBlastBackup, which I couldn't delete. Then looked at my hard drive and found a directory of the same name containing files deleted over the last 6 weeks, when I upgraded to the latest version of ZoneAlarm, which included the anti-ransomware component. Trouble is, I was contractually required to delete some of those files, and thought I had! Researching the problem found others whose hard disks had been filled by these SandBlastBackup folders. Fortunately,I ran \Program Files (x86)\CheckPoint\Endpoint Security\TPCommon\Cipolla\uninst.exe and it removed the anti-ransomware component and all the SandBlastBackup folders, whilst leaving the rest of ZoneAlarm alone. Whoever coded this component clearly did not have a very good idea of how the world works, and was more concerned with selling the product into organisations already hit by ransomware. Seriously considering ditching ZA after 10 years when it comes up for renewal.

Did the job for a few months, updated then completely destroyed the connection to the internet. Took me ages to work out what happened as many steam games were installed, windows update and ZoneAlarm. so thank you

Zone alarm is worse than 5 years ago when i paid them for the service One might think that a site I have visited 10.000 times in the last 10 years might be recognised but no not even a simple google search is allowed these folks really need to pull their creative heads from the deep dark place they seem to keep them. Totally worthless in the free form thus why would i purchase the vetted version. Very irritating subset program, oh it changes for no reason from day to day also one day google is great the next day failure wake up and no accept your bs terms haha idiots
