I had 2 duplicate ssds, both w/ win 10 os, plus 2 data hds. I selected transfer from C: only, to new computer, also with 4 disks. The result was 2 new drives 512 GB were almost filled, 32 bit backup software for drive backup did not work, could not be uninstalled and windows 11 could not format any disks in order to erase unwanted transfer. I submitted all required data to tech support but received no help or answer. Left on my own, I did a clean install of Win 11 on new computer, uninstalled the backup software on old computer and disconnected all but one disk on old computer. Used Zinstall to make new transfer. Most programs transferred successfully, 512 GB disk had lots of room open, and I could install and uninstall, and format the other disks to remove what was transferred on first attempt. Conclusion: Software works pretty well on simple transfer but instructions for complicated transfer are inadequate and tech support is non-existent.

For the price I expected a "seamless" installation. I had a hard drive that was degrading so I used zinstall to back up to an external hard drive, pulled the old drive out and installed a new one. I paid $169 for zinstall migration pro. The interface was clumsy and difficult to understand. I tried to restore from the external hard drive but it could not find any files. I ended up using a SATA/USB adapter to reinstall. Once up and running a number of softwares did not work. I have spent almost a full day trying to get the new drive back to how it should work.

The product worked amazingly well, but don't count on any post-sales support. Zinstall successfully migrated my windows 10 laptop to my new windows 11 laptop (about 600 GB or so in around 9 hours or thereabouts). I used the pro version so I could migrate one of my Macrium Reflect backup images since it was already on a USB drive. There were a couple of glitches, though. I'm a software developer and probably have a more complicated setup than the average person with servers, databases, virtual machines, custom services, etc. Zinstall got most of them correct but there were some problems with my virtual machines and also with the Window Subsystem for Linux. I reached out to support but never heard back - it's been 13 days now - obviously when you're migrating a machine you need help immediately - even 24 hours is too long. But Zinstall never got back to me or responded to my request for assistance (other than the automated "we'll get back to you soon" email). I had no choice but to figure out the problems myself and fix them, but it would have gone faster and been easier with a little support. Pre-sales (chat) was great although they could have offered better migration examples to help in the decision making process. The product worked pretty well. Post-sales support was non-existent and because of that the product is WAAAAY overpriced.

Migration - after the requirement to update Windows 10 Professional on a new out of the box laptop - appeared to go smoothly. But when complete, there were multiple registry errors and corrupt files that resulted in micro size views and no thumbnails on photo files. Internet 'fixes' screen shots did not match upgraded Window 10 operating system, and tech support never did follow up to offer any assistance, assuming they had experienced similar situations with other users. $120 I will not get back. Returned the laptop for credit, if I can't migrate my existing programs and files - I'm not going to keep throwing money away

I'm writing this review as a Windows software developer of some 20 years who knows the underlying OS quite well. First, as others have pointed out, the price is misleading. It is stated in dollars and when you come to checkout, it is significantly more in sterling, with no option to pay in dollars. Second, the UI is pretty awful. It allows you to select things to exclude, either one by one or using rules, but with no option to preview what will come over and what won't. The percentage indicators are based on data transferred and not on time (i.e. they aren't adaptive) so are totally misleading and can jump suddenly or just stick at 100% so you have to rely on your disk indicator to see what's happening. Third, it didn't do what it was told. Despite selecting 'transfer computer personality' the target system neither contains all the apps transferred nor has the settings from the original system. For example, I use Dynamic Theme and have turned all the 'live content' in the start menu off, along with the search in the taskbar. None of this was transferred. In addition, several programs were excluded and while it didn't transfer those, it happily transferred their start menu shortcuts. This isn't rocket science - if a program is excluded, exclude shortcuts to the program too. And of course, if not everything has been transferred, you have absolutely zero confidence in the result. Finally, my experience of support so far hasn't been exactly stellar. You have to fill a form and run a program on each system. Each of these actions generates what appears to be an independent response from the support system, so if the program result gets there first, you get a response telling you you need to fill the form in again. Also, the support rep was impressively fast but clearly just did a cut-and-paste telling me it hadn't worked because I hadn't removed my antivrus. I did this on both machines, ran it all again and - exactly the same result. I am prepared to amend this review if I get a good result from this point but quite frankly, I've lost over half a day's work because of this and I would have been better spending the money on something else or transferring the data manually. I wouldn't mind so much if it were cheaper and they didn't make such grandiose claims, but it is a lot of money for a product which really isn't that great.
