The service provided by Zinstall support staff (Jamie L. and Frank R.) was outstanding. Responses to my email inquiries were consistently helpful, detailed and prompt, evening during evenings and over the weekend. Unfortunately, a corrupt operating system on my laptop created issues which couldn't be overcome. However, when the support team learned of that, they quickly provided a full refund of the purchase price. Based on my experience, this is a quality company. Thanks Jamie L. and Frank L.

WinWin software - highly recommended
This review is going to be long, but I feel you need to know the backstory to get the full picture.
My scenario: I was building a new PC after using the current PC for about 7 years. That computer has about 1 terabyte of installed programs, data files, etc. In the past, I've manually reinstalled software and copied data, but generally this process takes me dozens of hours to accomplish, and I was not looking forward to it. On top of that, I was planning to give the current PC to my daughter, and would have to perform the same process copying everything from her 12 year old PC to it. Ugh.
After searching the internet for alternatives, I discovered Zinstall WinWin. The search showed other options, some of which were less expensive, but the reviews on Trustpilot made me feel that WinWin was probably the best way to go. My experience with doing this manually in the past has taught me that this is a complicated process because you only want to copy what's actually required, and NOT copy 7 years of temporary files, old OS updates, etc.
I emailed Zinstall support with a list of questions regarding WinWin to be sure that this software was the right solution for what I was about to attempt. They responded to me with answers to all my questions the same day, and asked what else they could do to help. Their response indicated that WinWin would do exactly what I needed, and the advanced options would allow me to modify the process to suit my needs.
I paid the $119 and bought a license, and was given a license key with directions on how to download the software. The process to run WinWin is download it to both the old and new computer, and run it on each. WinWin requests your license key, and asks on each installation if you're running on the old or new computer. My 2 PCs are on a local network with wired ethernet, and when I ran WinWin on these machines, I was faced with the choice on the new computer of whether to use the standard options, or choose "Advanced" and get to configure individual settings. I decided to go ahead with the standard options, and just pressed the "Go" button. My reasoning was that the new PC only had the Windows OS installed with hardware specific device drivers; if the basic option failed, I could just reinstall the OS and try again using the Advance options.
Since WinWin would be copying 1 Tb of stuff, I started this in the evening and walked away. When I checked on it in the morning, it was still running, and ended after about 14 hours with the message that it successfully completed. The next step is to reboot the new PC.
When I rebooted, I about fell out of my chair, because the new computer looked exactly like the old one! I then spent some time running software programs that I had installed to verify the copy. It's not enough that these programs still run - they need the "personality" they had on the old PC with settings and options. Sure enough, almost everything was just as it was before.
The one glitch I did see was the Norton Security software had some trouble, but when I thought about it, this was completely understandable. Norton licenses an installation not just on the software license you buy from them, but on the actual machine hardware. In my scenario, the new PC had no Norton installed prior to WinWin, and after the copy it had Norton, but with the license from the old hardware. Norton has a "Remove and Reinstall" utility which I used to wipe it off the new PC and reinstall it, and then the new PC was working just like the old PC.
I had been hopeful that WinWin would get most of my configuration right, and it just blew past my expectations and did a stellar job. The $119 saved me dozens of hours of time, and I would say it's a small price to pay. This copy was a Windows 10 -> Windows 10 copy.
So I wiped the old PC, and reinstalled Windows 10 in preparation to give the PC to my daughter. I decided to install Norton Security on it as well. The WinWin experience was so positive on my new PC that I bought a second WinWin license for the un-enviable task of copying my daughter's ancient Windows XP computer to the Windows 10 machine. The XP machine had a 150 Gb disk, and I was not familiar with its contents. So while it's less to copy than the first operation, the manual process would take even more time to figure out what's needed and what isn't, so I'd leave it up to WinWIn to figure it all out for the bargain price of $119. That XP machine is SO slow too, so manually copying would be extremely tedious. I was still nervous because WinWin be dealing with an out-of-date version of Windows, but they say they support XP, and they've been right about everything else so far. I had the additional complication that both machines were connected to the network by WiFi, and WinWin warned me that this is more unreliable, slower, with an increased change of failure. I had no other option, since I lacked a crossover cable, so I had to just proceed. I knew the copy would be slow anyway, since that XP machine is so slow to begin with.
The copy took about as long as the first one (overnight), and to my astonishment, it ended with a success message as well. My daughter rebooted the Windows 10 machine, and had the same experience as me - it looked just like her old XP interface, but was running on Windows 10 on a much faster computer. And this time, Norton was running successfully on the new computer so did not require a reinstall. The only "glitch" that occurred was that she had apparently configured a Dvorak keyboard configuration on her old machine, and WinWin faithfully copied that to the new machine - as it should. We did a little work removing it from the configuration on the new machine, and she was good to go.
I shudder to think how much effort it would have taken to copy that ancient rig to the new hardware. I'm not sure my daughter even has all the installation disks that a manual process would have required. For me, an automated program like WinWin was the only option, and it worked beyond my expectations. I still almost can't believe that it worked this well - TWICE - and I am all done and running at this point.
Very highly recommended - it saved me days of effort as well as my sanity.

The best $119.00 I ever spent on a PC solution!
1 of my Win10 PC's, the one I wanted to transfer all files from to a new Win10 PC, had no cable port. Zinstall recommends a cable to transfer files from 1 PC to another. A secondary method was to use wireless but it would take longer.
I had to use the wireless option so I followed directions, started the transfer and went to bed. I could hardly believe it in the morning, a big green check mark saying transfer completed successfully!

This is a positive experience with Zinstall
This is a positive experience with Zinstall. I bought Zinstall Migration Kit Pro because I decided to copy my old Win 7 HP computer to an external hard drive for the transfer to a new HP Win 10.
I decided to CHKDSK my old Win 7 computer (as recommended) to start with so with a positive result from that used Zinstall to copy the Win 7 to the external hard disk. It took a while but not too excessive considering what it was doing. (Being a risk taker by nature I decided not to disable Norton Internet security which didn't interfere with the transfer)
With a successful transfer notice from Zinstall I took the external drive to the new Win 10 computer and used the installed Zinstall Migration Kit Pro to copy it to the external hard drive too. Finally I used Migration Kit Pro to load the Win 7 file onto the Win 10 computer. When it was done there was my always messy desk top icons on the new computer identical to the Win 7. It was then I decided I could breath again and thought if they ever give the Nobel Prize for software I would nominate Zinstall.
Now for the hiccups. Three programs gave me trouble on the Win 10. Two, an ancient copy of QuickBooks, and an equally old copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver. Both lost their activation keys which I had on hand but neither could hook up to the Internet.and I didn't know how to get to where you could enter the keys. A Google search revealed that I should try their telephone activation method, sure enough a bit of fiddling brought up a place to enter the keys then both were up and running.
The third was Norton Internet Security, it transferred to Win 10 ok but said it was a legacy expired trial copy. Knowing some people have spent the best years of their life trying to clear their computers of Norton.after uninstalling it I did a search for "Norton" with Powerdesk resulting with many dozens of files all over the place. I started deleting them but many refused the right click delete process. Finally as a last resort I used the old fashioned "Delete Key" on the keyboard.to my surprise It worked. After downloading my active new Norton everything on the win 10 computer is working including all programs that I've had for years.
Another thing to be wary of using the external drive method which could only have happen to me is that Zinstal uses the file name "Container". When I got my new external drive for this exercise I only transferred one encrypted file to it to test it. Believe it or not it was named "Container" Zinstall didn't like it and said so. So if you backup both computers like I did be sure to rename the Zinstall files uniquely for each computer.
I hope my experience and hints will be of service to someone thinking of using Zinstall so they might feel more confident of buying and using it. Some people think it's expensive but just stop and think what amazing things it does and the vast amount of expertise and experience that went into creating it.

"Brilliant"
I chose Zinstall over a 'better known' software due to the client recommendations and the positive feedback on the web site..
What a good decision!!
Actually purchasing the product and installing on the new lap top was trouble free but the install on my old machine was problematic and for whatever reason my machine kept crashing with a blue screen. I chatted with Zinstall support and immediately they provided me a workaround which enabled me to complete the job.
Such a rapid response to the query and to provide a solution is very very unusual.
I cant thank the team at Zinstall enough and would recommend the team and the product without hesitation!!

Senior Technophobe Solution--THE BEST!
I chose Zinstall WinWin to survive a migration from my 8 year old Windows 7 Pro Dell to a new Windows 10 Dell. I expected the worst (had a clumsy partitioned drive I never used, thousands of image files, years of archived emails) but trusted the feedback. First, the pre-migration chat support was outstanding. I had a lot of scary questions (what is a "network cable"). Responses were immediate and helpful to the point that I set up source and target PCs for transfer, followed the excellent manual (what software comes with grammatical easy to follow directions today?), and ran it. When I came back two hours later, it was done. My old stuff on my new PC. EVERYTHING worked beautifully. I am a 67 year old technophobe despite working 50 hours a week online. TRUST THIS PRODUCT and SERVICE.

Rapid Tech Service Responses
Like most, the time consuming process of setting up a new machine and the fear of losing important data and files was the driving force behind my "fight the future" mindset. After researching several transfer programs, I landed on Zinstall. Long story short, the computer manufacturer was little to no help in resolving set up issues, suggesting factory resets twice. Zinstall tech support went above and beyond my expectations and seemed genuinely interested in my successful data migration. In the end, i achieved a clean transfer and I strongly recommend this product and organization.

Tech support is superior.
After completing the transfer and rebooting I ran into a technical glitch that kept me from logging onto my machine. Technical support was quick to respond and eventually my problem was resolved! Couldn't be happier with the software and their support personnel. Highest recommendations!!
