Blown Away!!!
Zinstall Migration Kit Pro - $189!!! There is a cheaper version of this program that will work for many users, but I wanted/needed to use a 2T portable SSD hard drive for the transfer so $189 was the price. That felt like a lot of money so I researched the program everywhere I could find that seemed remotely independent of the company. I have used file transfer programs in the past; most recently when I bought my Surface Book 2 in 2019. I know how they work. The last time I invested in a universally well-reputed and recognized program. It was okay BUT I still had to spend several days updating, reinstalling some programs (Adobe CS6, Adobe Acrobat Full Version, etc.) when they didn’t fully install. I also had to reinstall all my shortcuts in Office 365 Business, my workgroup templates, several add-ons, several Outlook tweaks, etc. And that was a supposedly good program that I almost bought again… until I happened upon this one! I read some good reviews and I read a very thorough, negative review of Zinstall that extolled the virtues of the program I had used before. So… it was a big decision to spend that much on a relative unknown… to me...for one use. Before I purchased, I downloaded the User Manual and read it cover to cover. When I purchased, I followed the directions meticulously; particularly with regard to turning off all anti-virus and firewall software; and taking extra care to close all open programs. I also went through my old computer and deleted files and reorganized files prior to moving everything. Then I downloaded and ran the software; first on the old computer and then on the new one. It was incredibly simple to set up. There was hardly anything for me to do. The whole job took about 6 hours, I think. Moving everything to the portable drive took less time than loading it onto the new computer. I just set it up and left it alone. The cynical part of me sat there watching things slowly unfold over several hours and fussed the whole time that this thing couldn’t possibly do what it said it would do. I had a mental list of the programs and files that were still going to need work, because they had always needed work before.. All I can say is WOW! I was stunned to get to the end of almost 900GB of programs and files and the darn thing worked as promised! Every time I open another program that had been an issue in the past, I am blown away. My Windows 11 taskbar is set up exactly as before. The shortcut ribbons in my Office 365 Business programs are exactly as I had them set up. Even scripts that I had are working. My workgroup templates all come up in File… New. Everything in Outlook (which can be a horror!) works. I am running 3 email accounts in it and they all work with no tweaking; other than me signing into my Office 365 portal and giving Outlook permission to access my Gmail accounts. I have a very expensive machine embroidery program. All I had to do was sign into my account online and it loaded as before. Zinstall Migration Kit Pro was 99.5% successful with accurate file transfer. The only thing that I have spent any time on is reinstalling a few Solitaire games from the Microsoft store and linking my apps to the Start Menu in Windows 11. The apps were all there. I just had to add them to the Start menu. For me, that’s it. This program is fabulous! Follow the directions and you’ll be more successful than you’ve ever been. I wholeheartedly recommend this software to anyone who needs to transfer everything to a new computer and doesn’t want to still be working on it 2 weeks later! And you don’t need to be a Senior Software Engineer to run it!
