I've moved several times, and this company genuinely impressed me. The rep made the booking process straightforward and was always helpful. The movers were careful with my furniture and used blankets and protective materials throughout the process. Everything arrived within a couple of days in perfect condition, and the delivery team was wonderful. This is exactly how a moving company should operatel

We were moving closer to family after…
We were moving closer to family after retirement and transporting possessions accumulated over several decades. Some of those items are effectively irreplaceable to us. I fully expected to spend the entire moving day hovering around the crew like an anxious security guard. Instead, within a short period of time, I realized they were treating our belongings with as much concern as we were. Family pieces were handled with astonishing care, Items that I expected to make me nervous never did. Somehow, they turned what should have been an emotionally exhausting transition into something almost peaceful.

NEVER use X-Van lines for anything.
The first thing I want to tell ALL of you is do NOT book this company for your move. I will attempt to be brief here. They are NOT honest, it’s a scam to milk you for money, they have a system in place with a low quote to them charge you up to 50% more than the quote. In addition, they say they are not a broker, however-they sold my unload at my new house to a contractor and none of them worked for X-Van lines. They broke dozens of items and the movers could not read English as dozens of boxes labeled fragile and this end up, or glass, was mis-handled, crushed, upside down, dropped. They quoted me 10k, called me 3 days prior to the closing and said the movers will be there tomorrow, a day earlier (they already know the closing date), so you are already stressing and hustling to pack, as soon as they hung up, another X-Van Line rep calls and says let’s do a walk thru with all of your belongings again, magically they piece count and cost goes up when they know it is too late to surface another moving company at this stage and they know that. They know you have no other choice but to pay really. The quoted price went from 10k to move from WV to AR and I ended up paying 20k. WHAT A SCAM!! Then my stuff arrives late to my house in AR and many items were broken and busted. I helped the guys unload the entire truck and out worked all of them and I’m 60 years old, if I didn’t help, they would have taken 8 more hours to unload. This company is unacceptable and whoever rated them 4.8/5.0 must be insane. Never again you fuggin crooks.

Deliberate Bait and Switch
Deliberate Bait and Switch — Avoid X Van Lines
I contracted X Van Lines for a cross-country move from St. Louis, MO to Carlsbad, CA based on a quoted price of $4,259 for 718 cubic feet. My final bill was $8,264.83 — nearly double the original quote. What happened in between is a masterclass in predatory moving company tactics.
The problems started before move day. My pickup was scheduled for May 28th. I was pushed to the 29th with no real explanation, then pushed again to the 30th because — and I'm not making this up — other customers had "more items." Each delay cascaded into other arrangements I had made, including a cleaning service I had to repeatedly reschedule.
When movers finally arrived, it wasn't even X Van Lines — it was a subcontractor, American Hills Moving & Storage. Sebastian, my booking agent, had explicitly assured me the move would be handled by X Van Lines directly. That was a lie.
I had asked Sebastian early in the process about doing a formal inventory review. He told me in writing it was "not truly needed." I then took it upon myself to initiate a FaceTime walkthrough of my entire apartment. Despite this, on move day — after my items were already loaded onto the truck, on the day I was required to vacate, with a flight to California the next morning — the foreman informed me I needed an additional 600 cubic feet. I had no realistic choice but to sign. This is exactly how they want it.
What makes this even more egregious: I had removed multiple large items from the move prior to pickup — a dresser, coffee table, nightstand, bathroom cabinet, and area rug — yet the cubic footage nearly doubled. I requested an itemized breakdown of the 16 items classified as "bigger than standard" repeatedly and was never provided one. X Van Lines has no answer for this because there isn't a credible one.
The foreman himself told me this is standard industry practice: booking agents deliberately underestimate cubic footage to win your business, then collect the real money on move day when you're trapped. Sebastian disappeared entirely once the move started — completely unreachable when I needed help most.
After weeks of dismissive back-and-forth, X Van Lines offered $300 on a $3,000+ overcharge and only would offer this if I would consider the case closed with no admission of fault taken by them. I found this offer to be insulting.
To make matters worse, my First Available Delivery Date (FADD) was June 2nd which frankly doesn't mean anything as that is not a "guarantee"...rather, in the contract X Van Lines states that they can take up to 30 business days. I suppose I should be grateful that my items didn't arrive until June 25th — 23 days later. No proactive updates, no explanation, just silence until I had to initiate dialogue on this matter.
If you are considering X Van Lines, get every single thing in writing, demand a formal in-person estimate, and understand that the pleasant salesperson you're dealing with will vanish the moment you need them. Better yet, find a different company entirely.

X VanLines - keep distance of this company!
X VanLines didn’t do the moving service they promised! They kept calling me and rescheduling the pick up date until they canceled it!
I had pre paid $735 already and lost my money!
Please be aware of this moving company! Don’t fall for it!

Untrustworthy. Lies to steal money and get stock price up.
I guess I should have come to trust pilot first and read about this company. Flat out lied to me about the cancellation policy and told me I could let them know any time in the next three days and get a refund. Let them know, and now they refuse to refund me even though they have nearly two months to find another customer. They hide the fine print about the one email that can be used to cancel, which conveniently isn't anywhere on their website.

If only we could rate with a negative…
If only we could rate with a negative number....
This so called mover was rated high with Consumer Affairs. I called X Van lines and asked if they were brokers, which they immediately replied no. Their company did the entire move, from beginning to end.
After providing us a $2,400 quote, I sent pictures of what was to be moved. It was raised $500 just to be safe but at the day of moving, they finally showed up at 7:00 PM. We were closing on our home the next day. We were trapped, vulnerable, and they knew it. We had not added one item to the picture of belongings I sent, since talking with them when our rate was increase by $500 (just to be safe). The day before our closing, at 7:00 PM, they arrived and increase our move to $6,450. We paid because we had no alternative.
THEY DO NOT CHARGE BASED ON WEIGHT, AS EVERY OTHER LONG DISTANCE MOVER OUT THERE DOES!!!
We were told our belongings would go to their hub in Chicago, then loaded with others customers coming to our new location. We were told it could be 2 weeks before we got our belongings but in all reality 5 -7 days was more realistic.
One week, two weeks... We finally hear from them but they brokered our move with a third party mover.
When the truck showed and was opened, my wife saw the condition of our contents and I became very concerned. There were items labeled fragile, holding up the entire wall of our belongings. Boxes were crushed and our curio cabinet was actually laying on its back, on the top of the entire wall (10 feet+/-).
There were several items damaged and missing but I will take care of fixing or replacing myself. Please hear this: if you are considering using this unprofessional, deceiving, lying, poor excuse of a mover, please consider what I have written in this review. X Van Lines LLC is terrible. They will steal from you and destroy your belongings. Even the broker mover which X Van Lines hired had nothing good to say about them.
Consumers Affairs, shame on you for recommending this terrible mover. X Van Lines LLC, shame on you for lying, deceiving, stealing and for even being in business. You Suck!
