We buy Maine-grown, pesticide free, heritage variety whole rye and oat groats and whole corn kernals from Wood Prairie Farm. The grains arrive promptly via UPS in heavy duty paper sacks, sewn shut. They store dry and cool, as whole grain for years, although we usuallly use what we order within the year. We crack the rye for rye meal and grind it into flour for our bread. We slow cook the whole oat groats for our morning porridge. Corn bread made with freshly ground dried corn is incomparable. The difference between these fresh foods and what you will ordinarily find in the food industry is huge. Delicious flavor, hearty, filling, nutritious foods.
