I'll update my review after I plant my spuds, but as of now, Wood Prairie seems like a good place to get seed potatoes. The ordering-delivery was a little confusing, but I think I finally figured it out.

I’m just a small home gardener, but I like to order seed from a variety of smaller seed producers to keep things from getting too centralized. This year I ordered my herb and bean seeds from Wood Prairie Farm, as well as a couple of bags of their organic fertilizer. Great service, high rates of germination, and I think the fertilizer was good. I didn’t grow potatoes this year, but I’m excited to try some of their seed potatoes next year.

Great potatoes - order early, though, because you may not get the selections that you want otherwise. I've gotten squeezed out two years in a row for one of my favorite varieties. Order these potatoes if you are serious about growing potatoes with an amazing taste - but don't order if you aren't going to follow through because they are relatively pricey (not that I've shopped around...)

Thanks for your Review, Clara. Since we grow all the organic Maine Certified Seed potatoes we sell, there is a finite supply and it sometimes happens that a hot variety may sell out early. Please note that we are happy to accept orders now and ship anytime you want - including shipping next Spring or even next year. Ordering early always assures you of the best possible choice. Thanks again. Caleb

Wood Prairie Farm has always delivered high quality seed to me. I like the non-GMO seed potatoes in particular. I would recommend them for any gardener or farmer who wants high quality products.

Thanks for your Review, David. We have never grown Genetically Engineered (GE) potatoes and we never will. In fact, we are very active in campaigns opposing GE crops. We helped lead a major Federal lawsuit against Monsanto challenging the validity of their GE patents. Jim http://www.osgata.org/osgata-et-al-v-monsanto/

Great service and product. Shipping prices are a little high

Thanks for your Review, Lisa. We are very conscious about carrier's ever-increasing shipping rates. For small and moderate-sized orders, we offer Flat Rates which are actually less than they were in the past. For heavy orders, we simply pass-on the same charges the carriers charge us. Unlike other companies, we do NOT use shipping charges as a profit center. Jim

my experience with the costumer service was great. The red potatoe plants are coming up nicely, havent harvested yet. So far Im not happy with the blue potatoe plants. they are considerably smaller then the red and one of them got about 4" tall then died. The rest of the blue plants seemed to have stopped growing at about 4"-5". Just going to leave them alone and see what happens at harvest time. Thx

Thanks for leaving a Review, Roberta. Please give me a call and let's try to figure out what's going on with your Blue potatoes and what can be done to increase their performance. Thanks. Jim (207)429-9765

Just recently purchased Elba potatoes for our farm, we are growing this variety and a few others mainly for ourselves and for our farmers market. They arrived quickly and in excellent condition and we planted them a day or so later. Haven't seen any foliage sprouting yet compared to our other 2 varieties we planted, probably because the sprouts on them were still small. Not knowing how this is going to turn out at harvest time I refrained from giving 5 stars, however I am completely satisfied with my order, thank you.

Thanks, Apple Haven. We manage our potato crop so the tubers will be in tip top condition for the ten-month period we have them available for sale and shipping (Sept through 4th of July). We try to prolong tuber dormancy which will give you the highest vigor and yields. As a result, some varieties do take a little while to wake up in the Spring. But once you see the sprout appear in the eyes they will grow like gang busters! Jim
