We can't provide Gmail for your domain, that's a paid product you have to buy from Google. If you do buy Gsuite from Google, we have a blog post that provides step by step instructions for setting it up: https://blog.winhost.com/set-up-gmail-for-your-Winhost-hosted-domain-in-10-minutes-flat/ We provide SmarterMail which millions of users around the world consider "proper." ;) It's not as cool as having Gmail for your domain, I'll agree with you there. But you don't have to pay a monthly fee to use it, so it's a trade-off.

Asif, we very purposely set out to build a simple, easy to use Control Panel, and it is as simple as it can be. When you have as many user-configurable options as we do, it isn't really possible to have a truly simple or "easy to use" control panel. We would have to remove half of the functionality to make it simple. Simple isn't what everyone wants anyway. We occasionally have people asking us for third party, commercial control panels that you have to have an engineering degree to use, so control panel complexity and layout is all a matter of taste. Sorry you don't love our Control Panel as much as some people do. :)

It's certainly a reality that some sites or applications will "hit the wall" where any shared hosting is concerned. The more complex and resource-intensive sites and applications become, the more they require a more specialized or individualized kind of hosting that is in a different category than the shared hosting that we offer. We're glad that you find us to be a good home for some of your clients though. :) We appreciate you trusting us for those client's sites.

Hi, agathasociety. We agree! Which is why we built a great Control Panel from scratch: https://cp.winhost.com/ If you mean a third-party control panel like cPanel or Plesk, we don't use those because we don't want to be trapped in someone else's development cycle (or I should say that we don't want YOU to be trapped in it). When you use a third-party control panel and Microsoft (or anyone else) releases some new bit of technology, you have to wait for the control panel company to add the new technology. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Or sometimes they make you wait 3 or 6 or more months for what you want. But since we built and maintain our own Control Panel, we can add new technology as soon as it's available. We can fix problems that might crop up immediately, and basically it just makes us more independent, and that's what we're after. It's better for us and it's better for you.

Thanks Serdar. Is linux more efficient? That depends on a lot of different factors, doesn't it. If you don't need any of the specific things that you can get from a Windows/IIS server, then linux could be a better choice. But there are a lot of variables that come into play when comparing hosts, so anyone who tells you "A is always better than B" is probably trying to mislead you. ;)

Hello David. Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We'll always let you know if we see a problem on our end. We have a public forum where all outages and maintenance occurrences are posted. Often if things seem to go back to normal after you see a problem but we don't, that indicates an issue on the network somewhere between you and us. If it did turn out to be something on our end we would follow up and let you know. If support ever sends you a response that is too technical, just ask them to explain and they'll be happy to break it down for you. They're technically oriented people, so we understand that sometimes their answers can tend toward the technical. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the feedback, Bill. If one site is causing problems that affect an entire server, we're limited in how long we can wait for a resolution to the problem. Our primary goal is always to provide great service to everyone on a given server, so there are times when we'll have to stop a site to ensure that we can do that. We don't ever stop a limit a site without sending out a notification. Sorry if we got our wires crossed there, but that's definitely part of the process. Hope everything worked out in the end.

Hi Jimmy, we do Windows updates at the time that traffic is lowest on our network, that is Wednesday evenings. Another benefit to doing it during the week and not on Sunday is we're fully staffed on Wednesday, so in the event the the update causes a problem, we're prepared to respond quickly.
