Great experience so far
I must admit that I'm very surprised by the negative reviews on Winebid...I've been buying wine from them for 2 months now and I'm more than pleased with the deals that I've got... 17% auction premium? Yes, It's not cheap but still under the 20% that other auctions like Acker Merrall and others charge. Shipment? Well, it's not cheap either but I don't find their rate to be outrageous...You are looking at about $4 a bottle if you live on the east coast like me. It's reasonable and they always ship the wine between 1 to 2 business days after the auction if you choose the option "ship regardless of weather". Customer service? Very responsive and helpul. They are doing a tremendous job, they really do. As of the rest, as someone wisely said previously, Winebid is for the "conoisseurs" and for people whom do their research before bidding on anything. Wine Searcher or Vivino are great tools and allow you to define wether or not the deal is good (including auction fees + shipment cost). It's not rocket science, you must know what you are willing to pay for each wine you are interested in and know your walk away point as well. Not all of their wines auctioned are great deals, but there are some it's your job to find them... To summarize, I find winebid to be a very well done platform for wine auction and I highly recommend it for anyone trully interested in wine
