Bought a Windmill 6K AC unit in June and it started showing a sensor error within weeks. The unit now refuses to turn on in Eco mode if set below 81 degrees — making it basically unusable as an air conditioner. I've spent weeks going back and forth with their support, sending screenshots, following every troubleshooting step they asked for, and even providing serial number and shipping info. They keep repeating the same tests and making excuses instead of honoring the warranty. Extremely frustrating experience. Do not recommend. Company is listed as an F on BBB.. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

I spent $500 on a 12k BTU two years ago. It was working great! Until it stopped working completely today, a 90 degree day. Windmill walked me through hours of a hard reset to ultimately tell me there is nothing they can do but offer me a code to buy a new one at a discount. I previously wrote a glowing review here because I enjoyed the ac so much but to only last two years is simply unacceptable. My cheap and old Haier lasted me 12 years and was still going when I gave it away! I tried to shop a small company but their product simply doesn't stand up to time. Save your money and buy another brand.

This air conditioner got great ratings...clearly they were falsified! The "Smart" app does not connect and the machine changes it's own setting and turns itself off when it wants.

Just garbage. The reviewer that said it blasts ice cold air in seconds must have been high or just making stuff up. I purchased the AC unit early on. It was malfunctioning so they sent me another one, almost suspiciously quickly, like they knew they were selling faulty gear. A couple years later and neither one does anything close to cooling off a room unless you keep the door shut and let in run for 12 hours.

It is near impossible to responsibly dispose of windmill AC units in NYC. They link you to DSNY on their website but DSNY does NOT accept their AC units due to the refrigerant. Windmill has no other solutions for disposal. I am looking at $150-200 removal from a private company.

My 8000 btu ac unit stopped working randomly. It no longer cools and constantly cycles through different modes making it beep over and over. Customer support has been less than helpful. They should not be allowed to keep selling these units.

Considering the price point, this air unit is incredibly disappointing. It doesn't really cool the 1 bedroom I have it in at all, and the buttons have started glitching making it virtually unusable. Customer service has refused to offer any solutions other than a $100 voucher towards a new unit. I've heard in terms of more expensive ac units, Midea is the way to go. That being said, my $20 LG ac unit off of FB marketplace was far more effective and still works perfectly.

I have 3 Windmill window a/c units, I was one of their very first customers when they came onto the scene for window a/c units. All 3 of them have broken and now Windmill has changed their policy in terms of repair and replacement for their broken units. The fact that all 3 of my units have broken is a warning. The first one was leaking fluid within the first 6 months, the second one stopped working completely after 1 year, and the 3rd one stopped working after 3 years. DO NOT BUY. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They do not care about their clients, and they will not repair broken units. I have reached out to the BBB and Windmill doesn't even address or respond to any negative feedback about their company.
