Persistent defect, dissapointing support recovery
Bought a Windmill AC unit that developed a serious fault: the button/display board connection started misfiring, causing random mode and temperature changes and nonstop beeping, even climbing to 86°F on its own with no input from me. After some digging, I found this is a known issue going back to 2022 units, still being reported recently, so it's clearly not an isolated defect. Email support was a letdown. I couldn't provide original proof of purchase (got the unit secondhand) and was flatly denied any warranty help. After reaching out on Instagram, a rep offered $100 off a replacement, which I appreciated, though it still felt light given the retail price and how widespread this issue seems to be. In the end I fixed the unit myself by disconnecting the faulty ground wire, thanks to the Reddit community that clearly had to figure out on their own. Product function when it works is fine, but the recurring hardware defect and inconsistent support experience make it hard to fully recommend without reservations. I was drawn to the design, but the quality of the product is not worth the price as I am now viewing these as disposable products that the company doesn't stand behind.
