I was under the empression with willmaker plus I would get legal advise concerning your software.I was referred to a legal attorney who sated there is no free legal advise . I just wanted to know if there was a way to word "if both myself and my spouse die at the same time, only my wife's will apply.to me this is a software question. thank you for your help.

I originally gave it a higher rating after I was done. The problem came when I wanted to do some editing. Either it wouldn’t let me or worse, I could not get back to the section and page that had printed out. You need to allow more space for comments and make the print out align with your Q and A. You talk about trust but give no option to enter multi trust and sub trust words.

Insufficient trust options.

Kept logging me out after a very short time. The will maker was not comprehensive. Did not include a clause for a personal property memorandum. Did not give a option for 'no contest.'

Don't have a will at all? Then this is far better than nothing. But compared to the previous will our attorney had drafted years before, it is woefully incomplete, especially with "per stirpes" provision in's and outs, which are several and are very common needs. We are going to revise our previous attorney drafted will.

Good basic tool to help you create the most basic of legal documents. Not sure it is better than finding, completing and notarizing basic legal templates for a Will, Durable Financial Power of Attorney, and Healthercare Power of Attorney/Directive online (for state you reside in). I was hoping the Trust creation ability would be the game changer, but rather than allowing you to activate on death, i.e. - once person dies, then all of their belongings go into trust, everything goes into the trust immediately, meaning every piece of property with a deed (house, land, car) needs to have a deed created in the trust name vs name of person, and every bank or financial account also needs to be adjusted. Phew!

Difficult to get a response from support. The questions were thorough but there was no reference to executor fees. The instructions indicate not to change the template but not one calls back.

This software is excellent except it is only useful for very simple wills and trust. For instance, I wanted to name a beneficiary in my trust and want to name an alternative if that person died before me...name my brother, then if he dies, his kids get his portion of my estate. WillMaker doesn't allow this. It only goes to the first level and doesn't allow you to go to the second. So, I wasted my money. Will Maker does allow for an alternative beneficiary but doesn't allow me to list who gets my assets if that person isn't alive. As an example, my spouse is my beneficiary, when both of us die my niece gets our estate but if she is gone, Will Maker doesn't allow you to list my niece's children as her alternative.
