I wanted to add a document (Power of attorney) to my document set I created when I purchased Willmaker 2021. I had to "upgrade" to Willmaker 2024 from Willmaker 2021 when the 2021 version said it was required. I paid $69 for 2021, so expected that an "upgrade" would cost something less than what I paid for the 2021 version. Paying 25% or 50% is what other programs charge to upgrade. However even with a coupon code it cost $104 to upgrade. Sounds like the program is only good for 1 year and you are not upgrading but purchasing a new version for full price every year.

Bought it for personal (family) estate planning purposes. Price was good. Interview process is easy like tax software. The Will and Health Care Directive worked fine. The Durable Power of Attorney only has a version that takes effect immediately. It does NOT provide for a Springing DPOA. Their reason is that it takes too long to determine incapacity, and the POA must have the ability to buy and sell immediately. Lots of on line articles support this position. However, that is not the right solution for me. Adding the Springing DPOA should be simple enough. Not including it is equivalent to giving legal advice to me.

Easy to do a Quick will, if you want a placeholder for going on vacation or something, but not a substitute for a will drafted by an attorney. Within the first few minutes of using the software, I found an error. The instructions for a Vermont will say the testator and the witnesses are required to initial every page of the will. Not required by law and three initials on every page might be legally confusing. Although not required, not a bad idea for the Testator to initial every page, but it is not legally required: 14 V.S.A. § 5 Execution of will; requisites (a) A will shall be: (1) in writing; (2) signed in the presence of two or more credible witnesses by the testator or in the testator’s name by some other person in the testator’s presence and by the testator’s express direction; and (3) attested and subscribed by the witnesses in the presence of the testator and each other.

I found the wording of the will rather rudimentary. I would have liked a better way to add bequests and comments. The program was okay, but I am pretty well versed in filling out online forms.

Hello, i am only giving NOLO a 3 star because I am barely creating my documents. My question is if anyone has had any experience with "after the fact" A lot of people and lawyer friends have suggested that these legal websites have a lot of issues with the laws being accurate and people have a lot of problems when their family members have to actually go to court. They say there is a lot of glitches and it ends up being a mess instead of what we intended to be an easy process for our loved ones. Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I have started using the Willmaker and am satisfied so far. Once I have completed this process, I will present my will to my estate attorney. Once I get her response, I will have a better idea of how well the Willmaker is. I would like to do a survey then. thank you, JIm

It seems to be user friendly. I have only had it for a short time. I’m not close to being finished. I cannot give an opinion now. But so far, so good!

Overpaid. 25% less on Amazon. Very disappointing.
