Wild Idea Buffalo is unlike any other meat company. We began with a vision of actually improving the eco-system of the Great Plains. Our buffalo are raised on the wide open spaces of South Dakota where they eat only the native grasses beneath their feet. They spend their whole lives roaming freely on thousands of acres, and never see a feedlot or slaughterhouse. The result is better lives for the bison, the restoration of over 100,000 acres of the prairie, and sweet, delicious red meat that is actually good for you. Not such a wild idea after all!

They arrived promptly as your email told me they were shipped promptly. They were packed with 2 ice packs inside lots of insulation. Very fresh meat. The meat is so very good. My wife and I went vegetarian for a long while and we missed meat. So we decided since we do not eat much red meat let's get exceptionally high quality meat when we do. Your grass fed (not grain fattened) venison is pricey, but it is worth it.

I had a small packaging issue that I requested be addressed with the company. There was a communication glitch, probably due to spam filters, and I was somewhat disappointed that I hadn't heard back to get the issue resolved. But once Wild Idea and I were back in touch with each other, Amy rapidly resolved everything with excellent customer service. Thank you, Amy, for your response and commitment to your customers. The package I purchased was for a gift and the recipient has raved about the "awesome" buffalo dishes he has made. I will use Wild Idea again for my next gift purchase for someone special and 'outdoorsy'. It was perfect.

I have placed two orders now, both arrived promptly and still very frozen. I live in Texas, so it's a pretty good haul from the ranch. The pepperoni is the best I've had! Great pepperoni flavor with the added taste of bison makes this very flavorful. Can't wait to try everything else.

We came across Wild Idea and Dan Obrien's books on a trip to South Dakota about a year and a half ago. After reading Buffalo for the Broken Heart and doing some research on Wild Idea we started ordering Bison and have not looked back, it is the only red meat we now consume. We really appreciate and embrace Wild Idea's philosophy on land use/restoration and the humane life, treatment and field harvest of the Bison. Having been exposed to buffalo meat during Native American gatherings 25 years ago and understanding the sacredness of the life giving qualities of the animal kingdom's willingness to sacrifice for us two leggeds, I was touched and excited to read about this family's journey to raising buffalo in a safe, enviro-friendly and sacred way. My husband who has had very little exposure to buffalo meat was blown away by the book and asked me to read it. My order came in a timely fashion and was frozen solid when I unpacked it. As we are currently using up the remaining meat in our larder, we have yet to actually taste the meat (with the exception of 3 very satisfied dogs who chewed down their meaty bones with gusto and questioning looks that spoke of "Is that all I get?). We are both looking forward to eating this food as our primary source of animal protein and have already started saving for our next order. Thank you for your service to humanity.
