I have been using this for over a year…
I have been using this for over a year in the event that my cat, who only goes out and sits on our patio, somehow decided to explore. We did do a test run by taking it well off the property, but didn't think about the case where the pet would be just outside the safe zone but hidden. We have not had to rely on it until recently as he finally did decide to go beyond his usual routine. What I found out is that the selected safe area is worthless and that my cat had to be two properties away before my wifi cut out and it notified me...and we all live on 2+ acres lots here. I'm not sure of the purpose of the selected area since I was told by tech support that it doesn't matter what the safe area is set too if the wifi reaches beyond that. In addition, the device does not regenerate for a minimum of 3 minutes, so if the pet is a good distance before wifi stops picking them up and then travels another three minutes, your pet could be pretty far away before you get your notification. Lastly, the device saves battery if your pet stays within wifi but only notifies you when it is super low. The day that my cat got free, when I was finally notified, I got a low battery indicator at the same time. If we hadn't been able to find him quickly, the battery would have been dead in no time (because it dies quickly off wifi) and we would have had zero chance in finding him. Lots of flaws with this system. My phone location is always spot on, on their app, but the pet location is highly inaccurate. I will be continuing to use it until I find a better option. I purchased one with a light because I think that will help me way before the notification does.
