Guides were knowledgeable and enjoyable to spend the day with. Nice to have the opportunity to connect with smaller innovative producers. Would have also liked to have seen some of the actual production process. Perhaps that was just a problem of the time of year we were visiting.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience! For starters, our tour guide Carlos was thoughtful and friendly. He picked us promptly at our hotel. He was very engaging and shared stories and things about Oaxaca and Mexico in general as we traveled to Teotitlán del Valle. He was ready to translate and assist us during the workshop. We were warmly welcomed by the Ruiz family in their lovely home. Daniella talked about the natural and indigenous methods of weaving and dyeing, and we were delighted to see and touch the materials used. The actual weaving was fun, though it was a bit challenging at first because it was a first time for us to use a loom while standing up. All in all, we highly recommend this workshop. I would just like to suggest that the size of the weaving projects be the same for participants. Mine was a bit bigger than the project that was worked on by my husband.

Our guide was enthusiastic in sharing out of the way markets highlighting local vendors. Splitting dishes amongst 6 people was sometimes awkward, but we got plenty to eat

It was nice to get a peek at the village and market with guide Laura. We really enjoyed what time we had with Josephina, with Laura acting as translator. Unfortunately, Josephina had to go to a medical appointment and so we did not get the exposure to natural dying that was in the experience description. We enjoyed weaving with the daughter’s assistance, and spending time with the family eating a lunch of soup, tortillas and grilled meat. We had some interesting discussions with Laura in the car that deepened our knowledge of women’s lives in Mexico.

We truly enjoyed the experience, our Arjan was wonderful and we were treated to having our Sak Yan't s done at a Wat , which was a very special experience. but do wish more time had been spent on touring the Wat's as was part of the description for the Sak Yant experience.

Service was wonderful. The gals doing the makeup session were so artistic! The cost was a bit high considering what was included. It will be interesting to see the professional photos.

WSE was easy to communicate with, were helpful answering questions, provided an English speaking guide, Laura, who had family ties to the community. Everything went great and Nelson, the backstrap weaver was very friendly and informative. It was very interesting to see the Native Oaxacan cotton plants, the ancient Stele, learn how to spin the cotton with ancient tools. Most of the weaving is done with modern cotton, and even silk. Nelson weaves tiny intricate designs with silk. We then enjoyed a meal at a local eatery where blue corn tortillas were cooked on a wood fired oven with a comal. It was warm in the sun, and along a busy road. The one downside was the car provided was a bit tight for 6 people. (4 of us, the videographer and the driver). Two of us were squeezed in the back seat. We ran into a blockade and had to spend extra driving time weaving through dirt roads to get around it- but all part of the experience! and no fault of WSE. Laura did an amazing job.
