HDD lasted less than 3 years
My WD "MY Home Cloud" failed after less than 3 years and I lost everything. Cheap quality. Don't rely on it. AND it took hours of phone calls and messaging before their tech people advised me it was faulty.

Took my money and ran! Never delivered what I ordered, always lots of excuses from the call center. Attempted calling corporate headquarters, no answer. Followed up with my credit card company to get a refund.

I am really disappointed with this company. I ordered a hard drive from them on April 03 and received a confirmation couple hours after the order. I received another email with the shipment confirmation and I can follow up the order status thru ups website. I got surprised with information in UPS website that they tried to delivery my product and they didn't found my address. And I need to updated my address. Last Friday I contact the company to cancel the order and they said is impossible because the product still with UPS. If they didn't find my address will send back to the company and I can receive my refund. Almost 19 days after I bought the HD and so many calls to UPS finally will be delivered my HD. As soon I open the box that was damaged and open the HD box was opened before I was surprised that the item didn't come. Conclusion they got my money and the HD. I already open a claim with my credit card to receive my money back. Stay away from this company. Do not recommend.

I bought an SSD that arrived defective. The returns page states "call Western Digital and ask for RMA". I've not been able to contact anyone, after spending hours on hold. Currently I have no way to contact anyone or return this. The emails are not answered. The phone line is on hold constantly. Not what I would expect at all, and will never make this mistake again.

Please if you are considering buying WD's "My Cloud" system please read the various reviews available to you first, I seriously wish I had. I am an old WD customer who has till now been happy with the service provided by WD. I am sad to say no longer the case. I purchased a WD cloud system after asking them if it was compatible, able to do what I wanted it to do. i.e. Could it be connected to my NAS, and would it recover from a power failure? The answer to both questions was yes. (I still have all the e-mails from them). Reading the ads for the system suggested it was a Cloud based storage that would back up the media files from my phone and if I could connect my NAS then all my files could be transferred to it also. As an old customer I had no reason to suspect anything. However, most of this is not the case. They have now admitted to me their bundled software, Backup, Utilities etc. Supplied with the system, does not work on this system. The drive does not connect to my NAS and despite multiple e-mails requesting a resolution nothing from them to help me achieve this. I am now told by a third party in fact it can't be done. The system will in fact only back up limited files of limited size from your phone. You can only drag and drop limited sized and type files from your P.C., and so it goes on. You are invited to purchase additional software to allow you to back up your P.C. to the drive, something I have no wish to do. They have stopped communicating with me now that I have asked to return the product as unfit for use. For clarity, my issues with WD are. a) initial misinformation from them, b) what I believe is misleading advertising, c) a product that is of such poor performance as to be virtually useless (transfer speeds, compatibility) d) no customer service to deal with the issues raised other than, to acknowledge "yes you have an issue" "we will look at it" "no that doesn't work." Please don't just take this incident in isolation save yourself some grief and cash read the articles readily found elsewhere on this product and don't buy it. As for WD customer service I am left wondering if they even know what that is.

I ordered a beautiful hard drive aesthetically, but it stopped working after 5 minutes. The button to generate a return label doesn't work on the website. The helpline doesn't even have a dialling tone. The email doesn't reply. Their instagram also ignored my message. I don't know how to get my money back. This is a big company and they behave like some dodgy plumbers on crimewatch. If you want to experience the worst customer service of my life, then buy one of their products from the website.

I have an order for £400 of hard drives that I have now waited 14 days for. They are really struggling with Brexit paperwork as their items are shipped from the Netherlands. The first package was refused at customs for incorrect paperwork and was returned to their factory and now UPS in the UK have missed 2 scheduled deliveries with the 2nd package. Do not order if your item is time critical.
