we bought five wd drives and one failed after a couple of months of use. The problem is claiming a replacement even though there is a two-year warranty. It's such a time-consuming process it's just easier to buy a new one. But not from WD.

Cancelled order once seeing the bad reviews and only just received my refund after 3 weeks after paypal getting involved. Also they tell you to not reply to them as it would delay the process of the refund but why? So I left it for 2 weeks buy nothing so I messaged again and no reply so then paypal it was. I never got the chance to try the product but judging by other reviews, avoid!

Ordered a 1.5TB external harddrive from WD back in September 2020 It had worked perfectly fine up until about February 2021 where it started to have problems and need to be repaired. Fast-forward to March 2021 and there's constant needs to repair the harddrive and each repair now fails and I have to reformat the harddrive. Mind I had about 6 games on this which all had to be deleted and redownloaded. Then each time I turn on the ps4, it says the harddrive needs to be repaired and once again reformatted. I would NOT recommend these harddrives if you need one for more than a few months. Worthless. Can't even get a refund, only a replacement which I have to pay €15 for.

WD WAS an excellent company with an amazing and robust hard drive lines. Since 2018, with the introduction of the SMR DRIVE PLAGUE, it has GONE DOWN THE DRAIN, specially with external DRIVES (and even in the RED NAS line, now splitted into 3 lines to avoid LAW SUITS!) WD DOES NOT inform the consumer about the drives that ships in the external enclosures, and currently (12/2020) is shipping LOW BUDGET SMR drives with all 2, 3, 4, and 6 EXTERNAL enclosures. More to come? I was an WD customer for the last 20 years... have many many drives, but i REFUSE to stand by a company that tries to DECEIVE customers with FLAWED TECH without telling them what they are buying. SMR is BAD. It's a way of making MORE $$$$$$$, and it will cost many customers their DATA. SHAME ON YOU WD!!!! NOTE: if you want to know WHAT you just bought, get the DRIVE MODEL and compare here in the "HDD Platter Database" (google it please!)

I've known Western Digital for many years now and still have some working disks lying around. The basic WD Elements drives are not good seeing Amazon reviews and I just had two fail on me without any warning whatsoever. I am seriously considering switching to normal 3.5" hard disks without the USB soldered to the board and getting rid of all 2.5" WD externals I have now.

I have a "my home cloud" for storing all my work files I bought another "my home cloud" which I wanted to be offsite in case of fire etc. Not being very tech, I thought this would be easy to do, I was so wrong! Since purchasing, I have now found that you can't have two! You simply cannot have two on the same account! I have been scanning the web for a fix and so many people seem to have the same problem with no answer I have emailed them for a fix, but they have not yet responded to me!

I had often thought about a networked storage solution that would allow for my CCTV camera storage, Time machine back up for my Mac and general storage for photos and Astrophotography projects. Turns out that My Cloud Home does not allow for CCTV storage as NAS drive. The Time Machine backup' s were slowly filling up the drive and when I contacted customer service it turns out that it doesn't allow you to set an amount for backup storage, in fact everything I try to do either is not allowed within the "Home" device or I get told I need to reset the device (lose all my data). It seems I should have brought a different unit. I would not buy another WD product.

I'm beginning to think WD does not have a customer service dept. I have had cause to return a purchase to them as it didn't work. It took 10m days to get a response to my firs and subsequent email. By which time I had decided to return the item. No confirmation of receipt of the package and no response to my 3rd email for over 10 more days. I tried to track to progress of my return ticket only to find it is not registered on their system. Even though I have Royal Mail's tracking receipt showing it to be delivered and signed for. I have sent another email to find out what is happening but as is becoming standard, no response.
