WSO - An Evolution
A few years ago when I first started using, WSO was a place of forums and community discussions for candid discussions of Street happenings--culture, work/life balance, career progressions, and general questions. This was a great place to turn--especially while still in college or first starting out. However, now that seems to have fallen to the wayside in favor of monetizing the site through courses and pay/submit-to-view salary info etc. Understand the website is a business and that the courses are useful, but think that community was a strong pillar of what made WSO great and has now been forgotten--WSO forums are now difficult to find and not even listed at the top of the website. Just a bit disappointed that everything on WSO is now paywalled but hoping will change.

Really sorry that you feel this way. There are still direct links to all of the forums right at the top of the site (quicklinks actually to about 15 forums like "IB" "PE" "HF" etc... As well as drop downs to all the free recent content, trending content, etc). I can assure you (as CEO) that I am well aware how critical the community has been to WSO and will continue to be the core of who we are. It's what has allowed us to invest in the platform heavily to continue providing mostly free resources to over 20 million visitors each year. Seriously about 99% of the content on the site is 100% free. There are limited ads, (especially for logged in users) because we've put UX and community first. Yes we're a for profit business so we do need to monetize, but we are well aware of the trade-offs and take UX very seriously... So much so that we are spending about $200,000 over the next year writing out thousands of new free resource articles to make WSO an even more valuable resource for aspiring and current finance professionals. You can always reach out to me directly to [email protected] if you have feedback on different features or there is anything that bothers you. As a reference point, the forums and community have had record activity in the last several years, so I think it is alive and well. Thank you for your feedback. Patrick
