I have been user for a long time and I have loved the website a lot. Currently, there are some issues the platform faces 1. App is buggy, I think it'd be really cool to have a fully functional non buggy app as most of my browsing on wso is done through the app now 2. Spam and low quality content is a plague on the forum. "Prestige" and "Rankings" threads dilute the quality of the platform. There should be better moderation deployed as these kind of posts lower the quality of the website

It's a solid platform, i think the concept is good, but the major drawback is that most users of the platform are college students, or rather, not actively on the street. i think the forum and learning and conversation would be great and very helpful to us all if more widely adopted by street participants. the site is also lacking a section for S&T (sales roles in particular, i.e. deriv sale, corp sale, institutional sales, etc)

A few years ago when I first started using, WSO was a place of forums and community discussions for candid discussions of Street happenings--culture, work/life balance, career progressions, and general questions. This was a great place to turn--especially while still in college or first starting out. However, now that seems to have fallen to the wayside in favor of monetizing the site through courses and pay/submit-to-view salary info etc. Understand the website is a business and that the courses are useful, but think that community was a strong pillar of what made WSO great and has now been forgotten--WSO forums are now difficult to find and not even listed at the top of the website. Just a bit disappointed that everything on WSO is now paywalled but hoping will change.

Really sorry that you feel this way. There are still direct links to all of the forums right at the top of the site (quicklinks actually to about 15 forums like "IB" "PE" "HF" etc... As well as drop downs to all the free recent content, trending content, etc). I can assure you (as CEO) that I am well aware how critical the community has been to WSO and will continue to be the core of who we are. It's what has allowed us to invest in the platform heavily to continue providing mostly free resources to over 20 million visitors each year. Seriously about 99% of the content on the site is 100% free. There are limited ads, (especially for logged in users) because we've put UX and community first. Yes we're a for profit business so we do need to monetize, but we are well aware of the trade-offs and take UX very seriously... So much so that we are spending about $200,000 over the next year writing out thousands of new free resource articles to make WSO an even more valuable resource for aspiring and current finance professionals. You can always reach out to me directly to [email protected] if you have feedback on different features or there is anything that bothers you. As a reference point, the forums and community have had record activity in the last several years, so I think it is alive and well. Thank you for your feedback. Patrick

I used and it was helpful, but it is not the same as a 1-1 which my friend gave me, so I might be a bit biased.

Some useful advice although could be more structured - what I don't like is (I) where there was a mathematical mistake, ego gets it the way of them correcting it as they spout some vague nonsense to defend it [it's wrong, mathematically it's just the wrong sum] and (II) for the add-on pe course with an instructor, the instructor said he will share the materials and then went silent

Site is no longer like it used to be. There used to be more helpful AMAs and newsletters seemed to have lost their way. Around 5 to 8 years ago when I was still in college and in my first two years of work life, the site was really helped prepare me mentally for job search and what to expect. The community was also more engaging and helpful in general.

I'm very sorry to hear you feel this way. I think if you pay us another visit you'll see that the community is as active as ever (actually record # of active visitors AND members to our forums). We still push out a TON of free content including AMAs, WSO podcast/videos and we're undertaking a massive project now to release a ton more free resources, templates and articles that should raise the bar even more (those will start to be released in Feb 2022). I hope we can still provide you value and earn you back as an active member since it was so helpful to you in the past. Thank you for your honest feedback! Patrick

Site is filled with anonymous users spreading racist / messed up comments, and overall inappropriate content. It’s extremely tough to find relevant information at this point because the forums are filled with anon users posting political / social discussions as a way to get trending posts. Long-time user and have not liked the direction WSO has gone. I think the use of anon posts just really messed up the overall interaction as a professional discussion board.
Response from Wall Street OasisNov 17, 2021
Thank you for the feedback. If you see anything racist, please flag it and our mod team will review it every day, several times per day. Even though members can post anonymously, when a post is flagged we can see who posted it and make a decision to remove the content and potentially block the member. We have been very active no bumping political and/or non-finance threads for years. I know it's hard to notice because a small minority still trend before we can moderate them every day, but I promise we hear you and are making changes. The first one that is coming in the next few weeks is no more anonymous posting in the off-topic forum. We think this will reduce some of the inappropriate content you see in there. Also, we are doing a massive cleanup of inappropriate past posts in the next several weeks as well that may have slipped through the cracks. Thank you, Patrick
