Pup sitting nightmare.
So I'm a new owner. My Rottweiler puppy is almost 5months old, we've had him since he was 2month or 8 weeks. This past weekend we had to go away so I hired Wag to take care of my puppy. I typed up a 3pager, with specifics and details. Now I should say that I'm not some crazed pet lover, however, I/we are trying our damdest to be good responsible owners. With that said, we expected the Wag sitter to be at our home Friday evening for dinner, bathroom, and some minor play and then another bathroom before bed. The Wag sitter got to my home 1.5-2 hours later than expected. First red flag. The instructions were very clear. On top of that the sitter didn't send pics or updates like Wag claims they would. Saturday morning the sitter texts me that they are running late, having trouble getting to my house. So late again. Then I hear nothing until dinner time and I get one pic. Sunday morning, sitter arrives almost 3hours late. Texts me, I text back saying, "you will be there for lunch and bathroom "', correct". Nothing! I'm panicked but not much I could do. So as we head home I call my friend to ask if she could go to my house and use the key in lockbox to check on my pup. Needless to say she walked into a really sad and nasty seen. Hungry pup(hadnt been fed since 830) hadn't been let out for bathroom, nothing, and wasn't properly secured in his crate. It was a gross neglect of duty. My friend fed and gave him water. We had her lock him in the kitchen because the crate was full of poop and urine. We arrived home about 10min after she fed him, and my wife, son, and I spent probably an hour cleaning and disinfecting our downstairs. Luckily we have wood laminate in kitchen and wood floors in the rest of the house. Also lucky that he didn't destroy anything while out of his crate. He did eat part of a blanket and envelope and probably some of his own poop. Needless to say once I got him and the house situated I called Wag customer support. The woman(Fawn) was understanding and apologetic. Waived my fee and put the Wag sitter on the block list. My poor pup is so stressed right now. He has pooped and peed in his crate overnight the past two nights, and is just a mess. We were gone and he was poorly taken care of. I'm generally a hard nosed guy who lacks emotion, but I'm hurt for my guy. He's great, and was improving so much, to the point where he rang the long bell we had attached to the door when he needed to go outside. Now he just looks sad and disengaged for the most part, and when we go up to bed at night he cries. Up until last friday, he went in his crate, slept until 530 am, got up, used bathroom, ate and went outside. Now he's basically a shell of himself. I mean, I can't even say how much time this woman spent with my pup. I know she didn't do the basics of what was requested, there is no way she could have. The sitter had a nerve to say she had a 4.5 month old rottweiler. I hope she never has to leave her pup/dog with someone or a service that takes care of dogs. She really set my pup back, and should be ashamed of herself. To make it worse she and I talked on Wednesday two days prior to the sitting and I gave her a summation of what I needed from her. SMH!! If I could give 0 stars , I would.
