Do not trust this company
Do not trust this company, they are running a fraudulent trap for new users. Here is my exact experience:The Bait: I registered an account because they promised a $50 bonus credit. However, you cannot use it unless you deposit your own money first. The First Trap: I deposited $10 of my own money. Immediately after paying, they restricted my account and blocked me from creating instances. They demanded my passport information. Since I had already paid, I reluctantly uploaded it, and it passed their system. The Extortion: With the account "verified," I launched 4 instances and started deploying my services. But on the very next day, they terminated all 4 of my server instances without any valid reason!Data Hostage: They are now demanding further sensitive privacy data—a selfie of me holding my passport. I uploaded it, but their system rejected it.They have completely taken my deposited funds and my critical server data hostage using passport verification as an endless excuse. They refuse to offer a refund and refuse to release my data. This is not "security analysis," this is absolute extortion and a data-harvesting scam. I have already filed a Visa chargeback against them. STAY AWAY!
Response from VultrAug 10, 2026
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear how frustrating and concerning this situation has been. Vultr may require additional identity or account verification as part of its Trust & Safety processes. In some circumstances, further documentation may be requested even after initial verification is complete. We understand that repeated requests for sensitive information can be uncomfortable, particularly when they affect access to deployed resources. Promotional credits are also subject to eligibility requirements and applicable terms, and certain account or resource restrictions may apply before those credits can be used. We take concerns about account access, deposited funds, and data seriously. We’d like to review the specific circumstances of your case, including the verification requests, terminated instances, and refund concerns, rather than speculate about what occurred. Please contact [email protected] with your account details and any relevant ticket numbers so our team can investigate the matter and assist further.
