Warning!!! Avoid this bank at all costs please!!!! They tried to steal your money and stop you from withdrawing money!!! Don’t understand why this has not been stopped!!! They are very rude and abusive whenever you want to withdraw your own money!!! They just tried to steal your money and keep it forever!!!

Vio Bank is really Midfirst Bank. They just made up the name Vio to sound cool. Their system is antiquated, their people are incompetent, and their policies are atrocious. I'm 91yo. I opened a savings account at Vio to stash $100,000 for retirement spending because they advertised a 4.03% APY. But, that rate doesn't compensate for the grinder this bank will put you through. After 2 weeks, they suddenly locked my account and forced me to call in. After asking me a series of bizarre and tedious questions, they re-enabled my account but they refused to say why they locked it in the first place. I've had the account for a month now and I've made 5 successful transfers in and out. Last week I scheduled a $10,000 inbound transfer that seemed to be going well because the funds were withdrawn from my other bank. Today I got an email that my account was not eligible for transfers. They actually blocked the funds when they arrived today. Wait... it was perfectly eligible when I transferred money out but it is suddenly no good when I want to bring more money in? Now my money is at neither bank. Now I've had to contact vendors who were expecting to be paid from this account and get them to get their payments from one of my other banks. Vio Bank has been nagging me to call them so they "get me verified". No, thank you. I did that when I opened the account and you made me do it again last week. I'm done with that foolishness. Today I started the process of pulling all of my money out and closing my account. I'm still wondering why they can't get things right. The worst part is that they just don't care. You would do well to avoid this place. You can get 4.0% at LendingClub or 4.20% at Newtek without the drama.

I tried three separate times to open a simple online savings account with Vio Bank. Each time I received the exact same error message: “Unfortunately, we cannot process your application. For assistance, please contact us at 888-999-****.” I called the number exactly as instructed by their website. The first two calls, the reps just told me to “try applying again.” On the third call, the customer service representative was extremely rude and dismissive. She told me again to try again, when I said it is my third time already with the same error, she said, it is up to me if I want to keep trying but that's a decline. This is the exact same personal information I have successfully used to open accounts at multiple other major banks and financial institutions with zero issues. When I asked for any details on why the application was being rejected, she refused to provide any explanation whatsoever. and they “can’t provide any information because it’s online banking” .. even though their own website directs customers to call this number for assistance. The entire interaction felt argumentative instead of helpful. I have never experienced such poor customer service from any bank. If they can’t even explain a basic application error, or decline or whatever or help a potential customer, I have zero confidence in trusting them with my money. Stay far away... there are plenty of other high-yield savings options with better rates and actual customer support.

Initiating a simple wire became a difficult process as my e-mail was having intermittent service. The customer service representative Diane was very professional, aggressive to find alternative solutions and staying on the phone with me until I was able to resolve the issue. The wire possessing on Vio Bank part was simple and straightforward. Once I found a workaround on my end, wire went out quickly. From my initial opening of an account 2 years ago until now, I have had nothing but good response levels and professional assistance. BTW, up until I just retired, I've been in commercial real estate lending with a large regional bank, I know good service and Vio is good at it from my experiences.

Please do yourself a favor and do not bank with midfirst. It is a nightmare experience from beginning to end. Every time I need to go online I need to reset my password by calling the center which takes 20mins. They have no regard for customers time, the entire online experienc is difficult. The customer service center is unhelpful. Their answer to everything is to transfer you to someone else.

It’s a decent bank but the site for viobank.com is really poor. They give some of the highest interest rates in the industry but the issue is that they suck at having a good experience. They have daily limits to withdraw and you can only bypass this if you use a different bank to withdraw your money.

I first opened a high-yield savings account with Vio Bank in 2019. I have been extremely satisfied with the interest rates they pay the entire time. They quickly adjust their interest rates when the Federal Reserve changes its rates. Every time I have checked competitors, Vio is consistently offering the highest rate or at least a very competitive one, maybe a few basis points below the best. I stick with Vio because I can trust they are not going to exploit customer inertia & inattention, they are constantly working to offer a competitive interest rate and keep my business. Vio is not a full-service, brick-and-mortar bank. It's just a place to stash money that you want to keep liquid & FDIC-insured while earning the best ROI available given those constraints. As of the date of this review: Vio is paying 4.46% APY on my FDIC-insured money market account. The HYSAs advertised on NerdWallet are paying anywhere 3.7% to 4.5%, only one of them beats Vio at the moment and just barely.

Vio has provided me top of the market interest rates on my money market account with them. I have had no problems with them.
